Jury duty question
I'm on standby for next week (suffolk) and the ny juror website states
"We suggest that those jurors who carry camera cell phones leave them at home while on jury duty, as cameras are not permitted in any courthouse. Jurors who do bring camera cell phones will have to leave them with court security for the entire day. "
Do they really enforce this? I have a blackberry cell phone w/ camera - but I'm not about to be without it all day since I'm leaving my 2 year old twins with a babysitter.

Re: Jury duty question
When I had Jury Duty, they went through your bag and took the cellphone out and the guards kept it at the door of the courthouse. Can you leave it in your car and then go out occasionally and call to check in?

Re: Jury duty question
What cell phone doesn't have a camera these days? I have the "free/bottom of the line" phone and it still has a camera.
I do not know the answer to your question about the phone. I do not have my cell phone on while I teach because if my students' cell phones ring, the rule is I must confiscate them. DH has to be called first, then me and if no answer, the main office who will come and get me... can you have someone else as an additional emergency contact?

Re: Jury duty question
I have often wondered this myself. i don't know very many cell phones these days that don't have one. Maybe you can leave it in your car and go outside for breaks often.

Re: Jury duty question
I was able to keep my cell phone & bring a laptop with me. If you can't bring your cell phone in, I would ask for the number were your babysitter can call to reach you & leave your phone in the car.
