DH was in a car accident Wednesday night- THANK YOU update!
DH is a police officer and was involved in a pretty serious car accident while on-duty Wednesday night. I got a call at 5:30am yesterday morning that he was in the hospital and within 45 minutes an officer was at my house to bring me to him (he was concerned about me driving from Coram to Manhasset). Considering his police car was totaled his injuries weren't too serious. His left wrist is shattered and will need to be operated on to put in a plate and pins on Tuesday and he has some minor cuts and bruises to his head and face. The thing that makes this so scarey and frustrating is that in Nassau the cops don't have partners or cameras in the cars so he was alone and the idiot who caused the accident, who was probably DWI took off! Running a police officer off the road into a telephone pole and not stopping is pretty bad karma!!
Thankfully he was released from the hospital and he came home yesterday evening but I feel so bad for him, he keeps saying that when it's quiet he can still hear the sound of the tires screeching and glass and metal crunching. He was practically in tears last night when he apologized that this happened, he said he should be taking care of me at this point not the other way around and that he just wants his wrist to be healed enough to be able to hold his new baby  I told him that we should be thankful that he will be here to see our new baby as it could have been much worse.

omg!!! im so sorry to hear this..its so depressing for the both of you right now..especially him when he feels helpless.but you know you are totally right! he is lucky that he is still here to even see your little baby..and its only his wrist..and he isnt in the hospital for months..it will take a little bit for him to get over the shock. he probably cant stop thinking about how he possibly wouldnt be here right now for you and his baby..but he is!! and thank god he has you to reassure him.im sorry you have to go through this right now.but you'll get through it!!

ooh my! That is soo hard to deal with! I am so glad that it wasn't more serious though. Please let your DH know I will be thinking of him and sending him healing wishes. Let him know to concentrate on getting better right now so that he can hold his newborn.

Thank god he is OK. I pray his wrist heals soon and somehow this person gets caught. What a horrible thing to do.

That really stinks!
I hope he feels better. Thank god his injuries were minor considering what they could have been.
