That is my all time favorite childhood movie. I watched it the other night and DH just shook he head when I sang all the songs. I hope they don't mess it up.

I have reservations about seeing the remake. Willy Wonka is one of my top 10 movies and I felt that the original was perfect. I saw the promos and was not thrilled, but I love Johnny Depp so I will probably give it a chance.

I can't wait to see it! I do have some reservations b/c I love the first one, but I think I will like it since it's not trying to be the first movie.

You defintiely have to tyr not to compare the movies. The books were definitely more on the creepy side, so more toward this new one.
And seriously, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have NEVER made a bad movie. I LOVE them both SO much. I think the only way not to like it is to look at it as a remake. You have to look at it as another movie based on the book(s), entirely independent of the gene wilder movie. It even has a different name from the first movie, if that helps

Yes and no. Willy Wonka is my ultimate favorite movie and to remake it I am not sure if I can handle it

This one will probably be much scaier, donna!
And it's NOT a remake. it's just another movie version of the BOOK. This new Tim burton one seems to be a LOT more about the (very creepy) books..and should be very different from the 1st movie..relate it to the books, not the movie!!!

I read somewhere their arent many oompa loompah's. In the original movie their were 10 and in this movie their are 2.  I love the oompah loompah's.

I think the two movies will be SO different that you won't be able to compare them. At least that's what I think would ahve been the best idea since peopel are so attached to WillyWonk and the Chocoalte Factory. The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has to be different so people will see them as distinct. I don't know why, but I just want everyone to give it a chance, because I think Tim burton and Johnny Depp are boht geniuses, and it would be such a shame for this movie to flop b/c we're all comparing it to the 70's musical version.
