Boycott Aruba?
Natalie Holloway's mother calls for a boycott of tourism to Aruba until the authorities there cooperate...the governor of Alabama (I believe) is encouraging the boycott also.
So will you/would you boycott?

I heard this on the radio today. I believe she even has the govenor on her side assisting in the boycott. I can't say I blame her for trying to get others to boycott since the reports were saying the Arubian government messed up a few things in the investigation.

We have no plans to go anywhere for the immediate future, but I don't think I'd consider going if that really is the case about the government not cooperating with the investigation.

i've never been to Aruba.. but if people were going to boycott based on governments response (or lack there of) to a situation, i feel like no one would Ever visit America.
i really dont know the whole story re: Aruba's government, But, i'm sure this isn't the 1st time a tragedy has happened somewhere in which the government didnt respond accordingly- i just feel like this one has been publicized more, so people 'care' more

I agree with you girls. I assume that people will still be going to France even though it is running wild with riots, right? There is no place in this world safe from corruption, and crime. And no matter who is in governement ther will always be someone who dosen't like it. Unfortuanalty things like this happen everyday, in the U.S. also. These are the times we live in. It's sad, but true. I would go to Aruba if the chance came. But I do understand why some people would choose not to, they do have a vaild point as to why not.

My parents are going on a cruise in February and this is one of the stops. My mother says that they will not get off the ship that day in support of the boycott.

I agree that the government didnt handle it in my own opinion as well as the US may have, BUT that doesnt put the local business's and tourist attractions at fault who would suffer the MOST from a boycott.

I'm really not sure how I feel about a boycott of Aruba. It's where I went on my HM and I've said I'd love to go back...however, if the government is withholding information, then I do believe that some action should be taken against them...I just don't know if a boycott is the answer.

I would DEF go there AGAIN, I would NOT boycott, it is too beautiful and we felt safe very safe there( we were there when the father got arrested too in all that media hoopla) , its an unfortunate situation but if you put yourself in a situation that can possibly be dangerous and that can happen anywhere, something bad may happen.
Its Aruba for godsake, the government in all of the carribean countries are terrible so Im not surprised they messed up. Its just an eye opener to be careful when you visit other countries b/c they are very different than us.

My husband and I are going to Aruba in January. I've never been there but I heard it's beautiful and I'm looking forward to it.

I don't think they should boycott. There are many places in the world that have things going on that we don't know about. It is just because this was publicized.
They need the tourism there. NYC needed tourism after 9/11 and people still went in to show their support.
