4th and 5th graders...
Hello all,
Just wondering if you would be able to help me out with some decorating ideas for my office. I will be servicing 4th and 5th graders as a Social Worker. It wouldn't need to be academic based since I'm not teacher, just decorations that would be of interest to this age group. Possibly social skills, self-esteem based. Also, any good places where I could find "stuff" for my office.
Thanks for your help !

check out places like LL weans and creative child
how about having them create motivational posters themselves? then they are part of the process and feel a sense of ownership!

This is a good idea! *The kids could also create "self-portaits" out of those cardboard body outlines they sell. They could include words on the body to descrbe themselves. *They could also each come in with a quote and you could talk about them. *They could also do like a Friendship Wall. This could get filled with compliments, nice deeds, positive decisions, growth type things. *You could also have an area for a social scene, like in comic form. It could change each week. Kids could put their own speech bubbles in for appropriate responses, decisions, actions etc.
Edited to add another idea.

Re: 4th and 5th graders...
I am an elem school social worker. I have a bulletin board series of kid drawn emotions, which is very helpful when a student is having trouble identifying how they are feeling.
I also have a bulletin board with 15 social skills (listening, cooperating, sharing, being kind) for students to identify which skills they are using, and which they need to work on. I made these.
I also have the steps to conflict resolution that resemble the yellow brick road, well the best I could. I made this series myself also.
I usually order through school, usually school specialty.
Please feel free to FM me if you have any ques.
