I'd get the balcony. I know this sounds bad, but why do you have to upgrade the inlaws. They will never know, just don't have them in your room.

Not a brat, get the balcony!!!

DH's family took us on a cruise and they booked us an inside cabin, gee thanks....I would have given a leg for a balcony.

You can have breakfast there in the morning or get little frisky at night! Chat Icon

I would definitely upgrade for the balcony but probably couldn't do it unless I upgraded FIL's too.

I agree!

I had a balcony for the first time on my last cruise. I will never go back.
The rooms are generally so small on a cruise ship that having the balcony actually makes you feel like you have more "living space". I definitely felt less claustrophobic in the room having the balcony.
Well worth the money!

I would definietly go for the balcony! I also wouldn't feel the need to upgarde the inlaws, I mean your paying for their whole vacation that is enough!

Have a great trip!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. We can afford it, I'm just debating whether I am being high-maintenance or wasteful and if 500 bucks is too much to pay for a balcony.

I would do it than...have you ever been in a room without one...they are sooo claustrophobic(sp?)..

Get the balcony. I would never cruise without it. I loved the balcony room. We had the end of the ship too so we could watch the water go behind us..we had wonderful room service meals on the balcony and sunbathed there when the pool was too crowded.

I have had and have done inside, to me the balcony wasn't all that great. To save the $500 I'd def. go for the inside, jmo

I get claustrophobic, so it's nice to have the sliding glass doors and be able to get the breeze in the room. We always leave the curtains open the whole time and keep the door open even though you aren't supposed to.

Re: 500 bucks for a balcony—am I being a brat?

Thanks everyone! We're definitely doing the balcony. I don't know what I was thinking even questioning it! Frugality has no place in vacation planning.

And for those of you that recommended upgrading FIL too, he's deathly afraid of heights and would kill us if we put him in a room with a balcony, so we luck out in that respect.

Thanks.

IMO-- travel is to get the best experience. If you are spending the money-- spend the money to do what you want!

LOL! I wish. There is a $500. difference between a room with a balcony and one without.
