Front Door Color & Siding color
Hi,
New poster and new homeowner and I could use some opinions! FH and I just bought a house and we are gutting it. We will be replacing the light green aluminum siding (sooooo pretty lol) but probably not until sometime next year. We were thinking of getting gray siding with black shutters and I was thinking a red front door would look great. Problem is we are getting the new front door pretty soon and the siding won't be replaced until probably sometime next year so we would have light green siding and a red front door for about six months or so and FH is worried what the neighbors will think. He wants to go with a white door b/c it will look fine with the old and new siding. What would you do?

I would go with the red because that's what you want in the long-term. It's not like it's going to be six years, it's only six months. I really wouldn't worry about the neighbors...

I agree with the above poster-- just get what you want now...
But if you want the house to look good in transition, perhaps do a white or black door, then do red shutters once you redo the outside?

I really think that the red door wouldn't look too bad with the color siding right now. And don't worry about the neighbors. In the end they will love what you did to the house. We have transformed our house for 3 years now and our neighbors now love our home. Buy what you love.

Make sure you search for a bunch of pictures to show him what you love and sell it!  Tell him the neighbors will love everything when you are done. No worries! Good Luck!

I don't think a red door with green siding looks bad. Maybe not the look you want, but it's only 6 months. Why buy something that looks good for 6 months, when you won't be happy with it for the next 30+ years?

I was playing around with colors on my house on the site that the above posters posted and I saw similar colors for your home. I hope this helps you guys visualize your home for that Red Door you want.
Before with green siding & red door
And after you put the grey siding on
GL with the door.
