would you wear red to a wedding?
i told one of my coworkers that i wanted to get a red dress for my cousin's wedding at the end of january and she told me i couldn't wear red because i couldn't be brighter than the bride! i've never heard that before... i mean, i've heard of not wearing white or anything like it but red?

I wore a hot pink dress to a wedding once. No matter what it is the brides day... everyone is usually looking at the happy couple.

? Can't be brighter than the bride???? Technically, aren't all colors brighter than white? This makes no sense.

I guess no real reason other than I was once told by an older family member years ago you never wear red to a wedding because it is an 'attention seeking' color at a wedding. I know people on this thread don't think so, but that's just what I've always gone by.
Colors of Maroon or cranberry I would wear...just not a bright red.
And I did have someone wear white to my wedding...I noticed and so did other people. tisk tisk.

I wouldn't if it is a Chinese wedding because the bride might be wearing a red wedding dress. Other than that, I would definitely do it.

Sure I would... I would wear any color other than white/cream/beige
If the bride said, please dont wear red bc my bridesmaids are in red, then fine... I understand bc honestly I was a bit PO when our best man's fiance wore teal (the color my BP was wearing)... even my photographer thought she was part of the wedding

before learning about a chinese bride wearing red, i would say yes!
i've also heard that it's no longer a no-no to wear white to a wedding... so long as what you're wearing isn't "bridal"... so a white pant suit would be fine
mind you, i would never wear white, unless it was my wedding dress... i'm a klutz and would propably spill something on myself.

Whattt? No way, I think I have worn red before. Soon there's going to be no colors left.
ETA: Just looked back at my wedding photos and there are guests in red! I didn't even notice.
We also had hot pink, bright teals, peach, lime green... nobody outshone me!
