I heard no red for funeral's but not for weddings.

I had people wear white to my wedding too.

And my own mother wore this super light colored silver dress that was shimmery and reflected light so much that it looked white in some shots. I bought her a different dress to wear, but she insisted on this dress. She also kind of thought it was her wedding.

I have and would again. I would not wear an all white dress.

Red is much more noticeable to the human eye than other colors like yellow or white. I learned then when I learned about the lights on emergency vehicles.

Tell me, which person in this picture do you notice first? My MIL in her red dress, or me in my white dress?




I'll just say this... She really stands out in the pictures. But that was her intent after all.

eta: Sunday afternoon wedding, well aware my family were wearing all floral prints or colors at my request, because I always wanted a "garden" wedding.

I would wear red.

In the case of greenfreak that's a bit different. I would not wear red if I was in the pics with the bride... like a MIL! yes, that would grab the eyes to the red instantly.

I wouldn't. It's too noticeable. Not to mention I look horrid in red.

Maybe it's just me but i'm of the opinion that the attendees should kind of blend in, not stand out so as to not take attention away from the bride.

The red dress shown being worn by MIL in that pic is way too noticeable and bright imo.

I wore red to my gf's wedding. No one is taking eyes off the bride.

I had one guest wear lipstick red at my wedding and for months after, people asked who that girl in the red dress was. They noticed her as soon as she walked in the church.

I would never wear that shade of red either.

I have worn red to many weddings over the years. I look good in red and one of my favorite dresses is a long candy apple red gown. Not sure why anyone would pay more attention to my red dress then the bride. That is just silly to me. I honestly didn't notice what anyone wore to my wedding but I'm not like that...

I would wear red... I see nothing wrong with that (unless she's trying to say that the red might be too "bright" as opposed to a burgandy red or something - I can see how a "brighter" red would stick out like a sore thumb)

In my parent's wedding album there is a photo of a woman who was a former Miss Universe and she wore a red dress that was cut so low you could almost see her navel and slit so high you almost did not have to wonder what kind of underwear she was wearing. My mom said that EVERYONE had all eyes on this woman and she felt like it stole the show. Seeing that dress always made me think that one should not wear red to a wedding. I think wine, cranberry or any other pink are perfectly fine, but lipstick red no, I would not wear it.

Yes but I'd verify first to make sure it's not the bridal party color or an In-law dreess or anything like that...

I looked right to the red, but then again I was looking for it. Because it's a red dress thread! But I always check out the bride first!

I would wear any shade- bright or not bright of any color as long as it wasn't white.

I see no difference in bright red vs. lime green vs hot pink vs purple. I like bright colors.

I've worn super bright hot pink to a wedding, an all glitter baby pink dress to a wedding, and someone wore a bright red dress to my wedding and her husband had a matching red shirt...she was preggers and they both looked soooo cute!
