Operation "Stay Put Smurfs"!!!!! (a.k.a my day in L&D)

As some of you know I had a cerclage due to my shortening cervix a few weeks ago.

Yesterday was supposed to be a routine appointment to check the stitches and cervical length.

Unfortunately it's now measuring 1.1 as compared to 2.6 at my last appt. They'd like it over 3 but would be happy with 2.5ish since that is what it measured when they did the cerclage.

They put me on the monitor for contractions and there were some small blips that I wasn't feeling ... So I spent the rest of the day in Labor & Delivery Triage at the hospital for monitoring with the possibility of hospital bed rest.

Hearing those words left me scared out of my mind!!!!!!

Thought maybe I was dehydrated ... a whole IV bag of fluids later and nothing changed.

Turns out that I had developed a UTI that was causing the pre-term contractions Chat Icon which they are treating with antibiotics.

Finally they gave me a shot of something that made my heart race, but somehow also got the contractions to stop.

I didn't get home until about 5pm but I've never been so happy to see my own bed!

So now at 23 weeks pregnant with twins, it's modified bed rest for me ... with the potential for strict bed rest looming.

No more working, no more errands, no more ANYTHING! Just me with my feet up hanging out in bed or on the couch.

My outings are now for Dr's appointments only!!!!!

I made a deal with the Chat Icon Chat Icon while waiting for DH to get the car. I will follow the Drs orders to the letter, and the next time we go to the hospital will be because they are fully cooked and ready for life on the outside. 23 weeks is waaaaaay too soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is so scary! I can't imagine having to deal with all that when thinking everything is fine. You stay well rested, keep those babies nice and snug. NOTHING is as important as that! DH has been absolutely wonderful throughout everything. I don't know what I'd do without him. I am totally and completely spoiled, and so grateful.
