7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
DS is 7.5 months old and STILL wakes up at night to eat AND the NP at the peds office said to continue to feed him (she is of the school of thought where if he's waking, he must have a need of some sort....especially if he is finishing a bottle).
He goes down between 6-7pm anywhere between 11:30-2am most of a 6.5 oz bottle sleeps till 5-6am for another bottle and goes back to sleep till 7:30-close to 9am

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
DD is 7 months. she is still BF but doesn't wake til about 5:30 am to eat/nurse then goes back til about 8am. she goes to bed around 7pm. luckily she has been pretty much been doing this since around 4.5 months. once i started solids i noticed a difference. how much is he eating during the day-could it be more? i also use a white noise machine which helps ...and one of the things i did a few months ago around the time she started going thru the night is the 10 minute rule. unless she is really crying/screaming i give her 10 minutes to get herself back to sleep. if its longer i do go in. its usually just whining though. BUT some babies just don't sleep thru for a while b/c thats just who they are. if he really seems genuinely hungry i think that you have to feed him. it's hard, i know "they" say babies shouldn't be waking at night to eat at this age but every baby is just so different. i suspect that sooner than later he will grow out of this! good luck!

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
I have read a LOT..and it all says after 4 months babies do NOT need to eat for the 12 hour sleep period. Noah sleeps 8-10 hours and I have never fed him since 6 weeks old in the middle of the night.
Its gonna be hard to break if you continue to do it.
They wake out of routine now.
Must be hard

Yes. It's really consistent since he is about 6 months or about. Now it's rare for him to wake up. It took a while though.
He goes to bed at 8 or 8:30pm and wakes up at 6 or 6:30am.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
DD has been sleeping through for a while now (since 2-3 months - you would think I'd know this info!). She goes down around 6:30 and sleeps till 6ish (when we need to be up on weekdays).
Sorry you're still not getting a full night's rest.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
ds used to sleep till he turned 4 months old. he's bf. i put him down at 10pm and he used to cry evry hour on the hour starting at 2-3am. i'd let him fallback to sleep on his own but he'd wake again shortly. i would finally feed him at 6am. BUT i decided that he must really be hungry b/c i never go in to comfort or feed him till later but he still wakes up every night. so now i feed him when he cries the 1st or 2nd time and he sleeps till 9am without crying all night.
is your dc bf or ff? i hear bf babies need to eat more often than ff.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
DS goes down at 6:30 - will wake at 5ish for a quick 3 ounces - goes back down until 8.
The only reason I give him the bottle at 5 is because I have already gotten a good solid 11 hours at that point - and it takes all of 2 minutes to do.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
It's so hard because all babies are not alike, they don't grow the same, act the same, etc. Honestly I'm with the NP. We fed DD if she woke at night and she always ate. It was around 6-7 months that she began sleeping through the night. Only you can decide if you're comfortable not feeding him and making him CIO. I couldn't do it but I know other moms have.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
My son was sleeping through the night by 2 months old. 11-13 hours a night. But for the past few months, it hasn't happened I'm not sure why but if he does sleep through the night, its for about 7-8 hours (and this is rare). Usually he is up 2-3 times a night. So we went backwards!
And he does not get a bottle at night. I know that's not what he needs. Im just not sure what else it may be?

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
I have to be honest~ I DON'T think that all babies follow "the books."
DD EATS when I nurse her at night. It's not a few suckles and she's back to sleep.... she's like a ravenous animal and will often drain one and sometimes both boobs.
SOMETIMES I'll get a full night out of her (last night for instance), BUT I can guarantee that tonight she'll be up at either 1 or 3 to nurse (Please Lord, not both ).
I've tried to CIO~ she just doesn't calm down on her own. Which is so strange because she's FINE with putting herself to sleep initially and with naps- I've always put her down awake. But in the middle of the night? Forget it....If I go in to just rock her, she loses her mind when she realizes my plan isn't to nurse her.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
thankfully by 4 months Ella was sleeping thru the night. See used to wake up for a bottle anytime between 2-4am, I decided to stop that feeding but I would go in and give her a pacifier and she would fall back asleep - this lasted for maybe 2-3 nights. SHe now is alseep by 7pm and waked up at 7am.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
Troy goes to bed at 7pm (at which time he has a 6oz bottle and 98% of the time finishes it). He has been known to wake in the middle of the night (anywhere bet. 2am and 3:30am) at which time I will change his diaper and give him a bottle (again 6ozs and he finishes it all). And 90% of the time I hear his tummy grumbling as I am changing him and start the bottle!
At his 9 mo appt (2/11) I will ask about this. He doesn't do it every night, so I do not see it as much of an issue.
ETA: He is 8 1/2 mos

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
DD used to wake at night at least once. We let her CIO for one night and since then she's awakened a few times, but most nights she sleeps from 6:30/7:00-7:30am.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
DS has been sleeping all night since about 3 months.
We only hit some bumps when he got sick. But even when he was waking when sick we weren't feeding him during those times.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
DS has been sleeping through the night (and i am talking 10 hours or more as before 3 months he still still slept like 6 -8 hours- i was lucky) for awhile too, prob since like 2-3 months old (he's 7 months now). He goes down b/t 7-7:30ish PM, sleeps through the night, and wakes b/t 6-7ish in the morning. he does get up briefly 1-2x a night b/c he loses the pacifier or wakes up and realizes its not in his mouth, but once you give it to him, hes right back to sleep, no problem (knock on wood). when hes sick, he will occasionally wake at night, but luckily it has only been 2 times where he felt that lousy, where he couldnt sleep the night. but the minute he felt better, he went right back. but every baby is so different and they all go through changes and stages, you never know what will be

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
DS is 9 months old today and he just started sleeping through the night about a week or two ago ( ). He usually follows a pattern where he falls asleep at 7:30-8:30pm and then wakes up for a bottle at 11pm and then sleeps til 8am or he will go to bed at the same time and wake up at like 5-6am for a bottle and go back to sleep til 8am.
My ped had me try to wean him off the bottles at 5 months, by 6 we had done it, but by 7 he was back to them b.c he got sick, then it was the holidays, then we were on vacation, then he got sick again and things are finally back to normal, so he seems to have evened out again
BUT DS is not a big eater, so I will feed him when he wakes up. He only eats about 18oz of formula lately and 8 of it is the nighttime feeding.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
We've been blessed with Lily in so many ways. One HUGE one is the fact that she's a great sleeper. The day she turned 6 weeks old, she slept through for the first time, and most every night since then. Every baby is different though. If he's waking and eating an entire bottle...I'd say he still needs it. Can you add a bottle into his routine during the day maybe?

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
DD has been sleeping through the night (no feeding) since 8 wks. Sure she's had a few bad nights where she was up 3-4x but for the most part she goes down at 7:45 & will wake up at 6am & then is fed & will go back down until 9 am.
Lately she'll wake up once if her paci falls out & will fall right back asleep once its back in.
She's just about 7 months.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
Mine is such a hit or a miss. Sometimes he wakes at 2 AM and attacks for food.
He always wakes at 5 for a feeding, then goes back down till 8:30.

Re: 7-8 Months old....sleeping at night yet?
it totally depends on how much he eats before falling asleep... like last night he went to bed at 8:30pm after eating 9 oz bottle, woke up an hour later still hungry... finished off 4 oz bottle and went back to sleep till 6am... if he is hungry, he wakes up anywhere between 3-6am...
