7 week old baby and non stop crying

My DD is 7 weeks old and had been non stop crying since yesterday at 3:00!! I checked her temp and it's 98..She is eating and napping fine, but every waking mniute she is CRYING!! Out of the blue this started...I called my ped today and his office was closed

Someone mentioned that she may have a milk allergy, but wouldn't I have known already?

Last night she slept 4-5 hours in a stretch, which is normal for her.

I am wondering if she may have an ear infection? I just don't know what to think since she has never cried like this before...

Has anyone else gone through this..where DC just started crying all the time after a a few weeks old?

Any advice is appreciated

TIA!

We went through it and it was a milk protein allergy. He was about 2 months old when it started.

Rylan did...it was colic. It started much earlier and lasted until he was about 3 months old. He lcried and cried for hours...morning...noon and night. It was horrible and felt like it would never end. We switched his formula to Good Start and at around 3 months it just went away!!!!

Unfortunately colic can be different lengths if time for babies. For my DD, it was from about 4 weeks until almost 3 months. In the beginning it was totally miserable but we did find things to soothe her over time through trial & error. One thing that helped tremendously was a white noise machine. We also used to go for car rides if it got bad. We looked like crazy people...leaving the house at 11 PM with an infant to drive around until she stopped crying & fell asleep but it saved our sanity.

ditto...

i think if she had an ear infection she would have a higher temp. Although that doesn't nec have to be the case all the time.

Re: 7 week old baby and non stop crying

I went through this and it lasted for a LONG time. She may have gas try holding her downward on your arm and rubing her back .. kinda like laying her over your one arm belly down .. try moving her legs in a bicycle motion.

My fav i discovered was Milicon works wonders and its ok to give her so young.

hang in there it will get better

Check her toes and fingers and make sure she has no hair wrapped around them. It's been known to happen (a lot).

See if you can get a hold of the happiest baby on the block DVD or book. It really helped us calm DD down.

Re: 7 week old baby and non stop crying

I went through it and it was a wheat allergy and soy intolerance from my nursing. Hit the peak of crying at about 4-6 weeks.

Re: 7 week old baby and non stop crying

Thanks girls for the advice...She still naps 2-3- hours during the day...gets up CRIES while she up which is like an 1-1/2 hours and then eats and goes down again for another 2-3 hours and she goes down for the night her regulr time and had been sleeping GREAT at night. Last night she slept from 8-2 and then woke again at 5 and then at 8..Didn't cry once through the night when she woke to eat. But Once she woke up at 8:00 she cried until she went down for her nap...I have a air purifier in her room that we use at a white noise machine and have been using since she was home and I feel it helps soothe her. She was on Enfamil with iron since day one and since DS was colic and on Nutramigen and it worked, I am wondering if I switch her formula? I just feel so bad for her because she will cry and stick out her lower lip, like help me...Chat Icon The cryng doesn't bother us...it's not knowing what is hurting her that is and the unknown since it just started and we havent been able to see our ped since his office was closed yesterday and of course today...I will bring her in first thing tomorrow. Can they do a test to see if she has a milk allergy?

Sorry for all the questions...Thanks agaiN!Chat Icon

If she's not crying through the night, I almost wouldn't think an allergy is the problem......wouldn't she have the same upset stomach or whatever through the day & night then if it were the formula?

The white noise may be the answer.....since you say that is when she sleeps her best..............

TMI - is she pooping?

She may be constipated b/c Iron is known to do that.

Chat Icon Chat Icon

If that is the case, some water in a bottle after she eats may help.

That's what our ped. had us do and it worked well.

I think she was 7 or 8 weeks old when it started. It got worse as she got older. We gave her the water when she was about 3 months old.
