Let me reword this..............
........................for those that were offended. My comment was NOT meant to be rude........in the least. IF you thought it was then I am sorry for that.
My point though was this.
From MY experience as both a teacher and someone who watched two little boys in my house for a year an a half 8hrs a day it just seems like boys are more active. They want to run more, be more physical (sports, climbing, etc) as opposed to just sitting and playing quietly for extended periods of time.
I use to observe my DD when she was with the 2 kids I watched and she was just more mellow. She would rather sit and read and do quiet activities like coloring as opposed to running around with the two boys. They were always on the move and never wanted to sit still for longer than a few minutes, my DD was just never like that. They would be tearing through the yard and she would be sitting have a tea party. They were just very different.
And boys being more active was all that I was alluding to in my original response.
And I assumed that everyone would know better than to jump to the conclusion that I meant EVERY single boy is active and EVERY single girl is a quiet angel. I know that's NOT the case, at all. I was just answering the OP based on my own experiences with my DD and other kids I've known over the years whether it be in a school setting or otherwise.
Can we please all move on now?

Re: Let me reword this..............
I think your post was based on your opinion.
Some may have taken offence to it, and some may not have, but it shouldn't have turned into a bullying episode. We should be detering our kids from bullying, not jumping on the bandwagon and participating in it.
So Kudos to you for taking the higher road and apologizing for your honest opinon.
Even on these boards we have to be politically correct, or face the risk of being attacked and bullied.

Re: Let me reword this..............
I thought that was what you meant too
As a mommy to two very cute and active boys (ages 4 and 21 months), at first I was like at your post. But then I read it again, and I see your point.
But it did come off as "Thank goodness I have a girl because she is so laid back and easy..etc." So I think that is where some feelings were hurt.
Also, many of your posts talk about how easygoing your little girl is. Many of us come on here to vent about our trials and difficulties with our children. So maybe your post hit a few nerves because you rarely commiserate with the rest of the gang.
I think it is great that you are so happy with your daughter, and love to brag about her. I feel the same way about my sons, but some days are more difficult than others. I am also afraid to brag, for fear that I will jinx myself.

Kristen I don't think it was your opinion people found fault with.
It was the "I thank god every day I have a girl!!! " which basically translates to "thank god I don't have boys."
Beyond rude, and sad that you think this is okay to say

Is this an apology or just another lame attempt at justifying what you said in the other thread?

Point well taken but I don't think there is a person on here that hasn't at one time or another offended someone or upset someone with something they said. Maybe they weren't called out on it but when you're on a computer trying to convey how you feel through just typed words it's inevitable that someone will take something the wrong way.
No matter how hard you try to convey your point written words lack tone and feeling. If my SAME post was said verbally, nobody would've been offended because you would have clearly seen that I was being jokingly sarcastic about the difference between boys and girls. I wasn't trying to be offensive, at all.
It happens on LIF all the time. Unfortunately, people latch on to one comment made in a whole long response and then everyone else jumps on board and then the point and intent of that original response was completely lost and misconstrued. Then the thread takes on a life of its own. I've seen it with my posts and with PLENTY of other people's as well. It's just frustrating.
Just as everyone wants me and whoever else on here to be careful how they word things people need to be equally careful when reading someone's responses and maybe not be so quick to assume the worst and get upset and offended. A lot of back and forth fighting would be easily avoided on here if people weren't so quick to assume the worst from someone and get so offended. JMO though.

That's not what I meant though, not at all. I would be THRILLED to have a son, I would never wish to not have a son. That's crazy. I was just jokingly saying thank god I have a girl because in my little world, it's easier. That's all. I didn't mean for anyone to think that having a son was not a blessing. Honestly, that NEVER even crossed my mind when I typed what I did.

I'm not justifying anything, I wanted to CLARIFY what I meant since the other thread went off the rails and I think because of that people were missing the true intent behind what was originally said.
And of course, if anyone was offended I apologize but I also felt the need to at least clarify myself.

I feel like you missed the point. It seems a lot of people on here can recognize that while boys and girls are different, not all boys are animals and not all girls are princesses. And vise versa.
I think to say something along the lines of "thank god I don't have a boy" is a really awful thing to say.

I think that people did misunderstand but that's life. I can't keep harping on it though, I've explained myself and everyone is entitled to feel how they like about it. If people think what I said was rude then that's their issue to be honest, it wasn't my intent and there is nothing else to really say about it. I apologized, it's done.

I hesiate to even ask this, but what the heck...
Out of curiosity....
The OP on the other thread asked which was easier ..boys or girls..(which IMO, there is no right answer for as I stated in the other post )
I don't recall her asking which gender was more "active" and I am just curious why, (in your opinion) an "active" child falls under the "not easy "category and the tea party playing child falls under the 'easy" category
It just suprises me , that you as an educator(as you have stated) view children this way.....
Is this the "best seen not heard" philosphy? I genuinely don't understand...
It may be your own personal personality "preference" but that certainly doesn't mean that active children are not 'easy" .
Guess it really depends on the parent, NOT the child in the end......

Oh my gosh...........this is a leap. I never said or even implied that all boys are animals and all girls are princesses. To even make that assumption from what I said is quite honestly, sort of silly. As I stated above, when I (or anyone else) responds to a post it's your opinion and is based on your own life experiences and NOT meant to be a sweeping generalization of the population at large.
That I would have to actually call out the fact to anyone on here that I don't think ALL boys are one way and ALL girls are another way is crazy to me.
My point was that I find boys to be more active and I made a comparison to little monkeys, not to be mean........as a cute comparison. That's all. And I was being sarcastic saying "thank god I have a girl".........in NO way was the implication I wouldn't want a son OR that anyone who has a boy is cursed or unfortunate. Again, that NEVER even crossed my mind when I typed it. If I though it would be interpreted that way I would not have written it but it NEVER crossed my mind that anyone wouldn't see the sarcasm in what I said.

I think you are just not understanding that whether you mean to or not you come across as rude and obnoxious. You obviously don't want to see that so you will continue to place the blame on everyone else.
You can have any opinion you want but it is the WAY you say (write) things.

I think Sarah is making perfectly logical inferences based on what you wrote in your original post. Maybe you were being hyperbolic ( though I don't now why you would be), but it really did come across as "all boys I know are crazy and thank god I have a girl," which I think is hurtful and rude.

This.
A constant theme with posts you make is that EVERYONE else seems to misunderstand and then you try and clarify it.
Perhaps YOU might want to reconsider how you try to convey your point before you hit the enter button.
Can everyone else be wrong? I think not.

Guess it really depends on the parent, NOT the child in the end......
I never really thought of it the way you stated. I absolutely do NOT believe in "seen not heard".........not at all.
I just meant when you have active kids, meaning kids who like to run around a lot or that can't be easily entertained for long periods of time, it can be more exhausting as a parent then a child who is more quiet or content to sit and be engaged in an activity for extended periods of time. I don't mean that "active" kids are bad kids, just more tiring to deal with on a day to day basis because they are always on the go.
And it's just been my observation, not always but more often than not, that boys tend to be more active than girls. But that's just my observation and I know the reverse can be true as well.
I guess I just equate being an easy kid to how exhausted you as a parent are at the end of the day.
If I had to spend all day chasing after my DD, constantly entertaining her, or pulling her off the furniture, or jumping from activity to activity I, as a parent, would be SO tired come 8:00. To me, that's just a long, tough day. It wouldn't make her a bad kid, she would just wear me out.
To me, an easy kid (or baby) is one that has great sleeping habits, not a crier, as they are older they can entertain themselves, etc. I don't think anyone would argue it's a lot easier to have a kid who can sit and be engaged for extended periods of time over a kid you need to chase around all day. And who can argue a kid that sleeps all night is not blissful??
Again, being active does not make someone a bad kid at all, just a kid that requires more of you throughout the day. KWIM?
I hope that explains it better. By no means would I want a kid to be seen and not heard, in fact..........my DD never shuts up but I find it easier as a parent to have a child that can entertain herself and is more on the mellow side. That's all.

I got what you meant. You are speaking form your experience with specific kids.... (I can say the same about some kids i know ) unless the parents of THOSE kids are on here, I don;t see why anyone should be taking that comment personally. This is LIF where drama thrives and this thread might reach 10 pages. I would just stop replying now.

Re: Let me reword this..............
I honestly don't understand why people got so upset over this.
When people say how girls are a horror, moody b*tches, blah, blah when they're teenagers, no one gets their panties in a bunch. I've read countless times how people thank all of their lucky stars that they have a boy when they're are teenagers and thankfully don't have a "snotty" girl. I see that a lot and no one says a thing!!!!!!!!
This whole thing is just silly. Who cares who's easier. Children are hard to raise in general regardless of gender!!

ummmm, if you guys take a better look at the thread, the parent of at least one of those kids IS on here and responded that she was hurt and insulted.
Again, it's not the opinion in general that is rude and obnoxious but the delivery of said opinion. It's the WAY she says it, not actually what she's saying.
