So a woman in her 60's parks in an expectant mother spot..

...and my friend who is 6 months pregnant, rolls down her window and says "i'm sorry, but you parked in the expectant mothers spot" (there were no other open spots nearby) and the lady turns to her and says "Yeah well I'm expecting my kids over for dinner tonight".

Chat Icon

LOL. I know it's not right what the lady did, but her comeback was pretty quick. My friend was pissed!! I'm sure the lady had that reply in her head just in case...she has some balls!

Chat Icon that response is kind of funny.....I immediately thought of the Sophia, the older mom from Golden Girls.

I don't fault older people for parking there at times. Especially with ice and snow...they are just as vulnerable as expecting women.

I might give them a pass...but who knows.

I am sorry, but that's hilarious!

And yeah, having been pregnant 2x, I still don't understand the deal with expectant mothers' spot...

Reminds me of an old bitty at Target. I wiped down my cart with their cart wipes. Had it over by the dollar bin. Looking around. Lady puts her cane in it. I said excuse me, that is my cart. She said "your name isn't on it". I said well, that is my item in it, and I just wiped it down with wipes. She said, "oh, that's why it stinks so bad", took her cane out and walked away. I was cracking up Chat Icon

I don't agree with expectant mother parking at all. I think her comeback was hilarious! However, if there was a sign, I tend to follow the rules and would not have ever parked there.

Who is to say that 60 year old didn't just have hip surgery, or need to park closer, for some reason? I just never understood all of these special spots for people..energy efficient cars, moms with small kids, etc..just park where you find a spot!

HAHA thats actually funny.

but that stuff irked me towards the end of my pregnancy. i would watch able bodied people get out of their cars in those spots...meanwhile i was very preggo with twins and lugging around a toddler.....i really would have liked to park a little closer. but what are you gonna do, not much!

I'll be honest, I don't really care about the expectant parking either!! When I'm pg I'll park in them if they're open but never bothers me to park elsewhere.

The womans response did make me laugh! But i still think it was kind of ballsy to reply to a pregnant woman, lol...

That is hilarious! I love old people. I feel like if you live long enough, you eventually get a license (probably in exchange after they take away your driver's lic) to say whatever the heck you want and it's acceptable.

(I can't wait for those days, Chat Icon)

My friend was overly pissed...I even wrote to her "c'mon tere you must admit her response was pretty witty" and she said "yeah but she could have cared less that she took the spot and i find it to be so rude". Oh well.

No flames! I feel there should be handicapped parking and that is that. If a pregnant woman is having a tough pregnancy she should have temporary handicapped parking privileges. Anytime I was pregnant I remember thinking how many other people prob need a closer spot than I do. I felt fine, could walk fine etc..

Her response was quick, I will give her that. However, when I was 8+ months PG I cherished those spot since I had so much trouble walking just a few feet.

yea I kind of agree. I was never a fan either. When I was pregnant I never used those spots. I'm pregnant, not disabled. I hate the whole idea. IMO it really should be for pregnant woman who truly need them and can't walk far or have complications from pregnancy, etc.

I dont agree with the expectant moms spot, but thats what its designated for. I dont even use those spots when pregnant, but I think its rude for someone not pregnant to use it.

I do agree with this...I would NEVER use those spots if i weren't pg, whether or not i agree with the spots. For what its worth, my friend said this woman was totally able bodied, she just didn't give a rats a@@! lol

Yes it was a good comeback but its still not right. I just goes back to the whole people thinking they are above the "law". I know its not the law, just a courtesy thing, but I don't understand why certain people can't respect that. I know towards the end of my pregnancy I was DONE. Too hard to walk, get out of breath easily. It was nice to have those spots.

I want to be mad but I actually find that pretty funny.

Even when I was 9 months pregnant DH wouldn't park in the expectant mothers spots when he drove me to BRU because he "felt funny" about it.

I have nothing against those spots but for me personally, if I felt that bad where I couldn't walk a few extra feet from a regular spot, I sure as hell would not have felt up to walking around a baby store for an hour!

Really? Just for the sake of parking a bit closer?
