8 month old food question

Tomorrow I plan on making beef stew for dinner. Do you think if I mash up the potatoes I'll be able to give them to Joey? He is not a fan of baby food at all, and I am desperate to be able to give him some table food. I would really mash the potatoes enough so that they are soupy. Do you think that would be ok with maybe some mashed peas & carrots also from the stew? I don't have one of those food mills so it wouldn't be as smooth as the baby food jars. TIA! Chat Icon

I think it would be fine. I was giving Rylan table food for a while now. Especially being in a stew...I don't think you would even need to mash it that much.

I have given Landon a mashed sweet potato and a mashed carrot before. The only thing I would be cautious of is do you use and any seasonings or herbs in the stew?

I used to give DD stew all the time (still do) I didn't mash them just cut the carrots and potatoes really small. They were very soft and she liked to "chew," but I definitely think that mashed would be fine!! Bon AppetiteChat Icon

Thanks ladies!! No, I don't use any kinds of spices that Joey wouldn't be able to have. Looks like Joey is going to have his first "big boy" meal tomorrow night. YAY! Chat Icon

Re: 8 month old food question

I just started giving DD small pieces of very soft veggies (carrotts and peas) and she seems to like it! I didn't mash it. You should be fine!

Re: 8 month old food question

at 8 months old my kids ate all table food. If you can smash it between two fingers they should be able to smash it with their gums!
