Essentials
Ok so my shower has come and gone and now I need to go shopping for the missing stuff that I need right away.
I didn't get any newborn clothes (all 3-6 months or bigger) so how much should I buy? Also I didn't get any wipes, newborn diapers, rash cream, soap, shampoo, etc.
Anyone have a list of stuff and how much I should buy upfront?
THANKS!

Re: Essentials
Well, my daughter was a preemie and none of those 0-3m clothes fit her! I had to scramble out to buy her a couple of preemie clothes and even those did not fit her. Thankfully, she was born when the weather wasn't too bad so I had her in those basic white tees for about a month. She only wore a diaper on the bottom.
At 4 months now, she is JUST starting to wear her 3-6m clothes.
So yeah, she was in her 0-3m clothes for awhile as she outgrew her preemie stuff pretty quickly too. you should probably get a basic pack or 2 of onesies. They're cheap anyway, like 5 for $10?
You definitely need to get wipes, soap, shampoo. You could probably hold off on the diaper rash creams. Don't buy too many diapers at once, every baby is different and yours might outgrow a certin size too quickly. I have so many leftover size 1 diapers b/c I stocked up.
I bought a lot of those little wash clothes to use under her chin when she feeds (breast in a bottle), cus she was too small for bibs and I didn't want her to be all messy. You def. need burp cloths. Hmm, can't think of anything else right now.. good luck!
eta: Gerber makes those side snap shirts, I LOVED them!!

Re: Essentials
Definitely get some newborn clothes! My DS was just under 8 pounds and his 0-3 month stuff is mostly big on him! The things that I've found to be great have been those gown like sleeper things..they gather at the feet and so easy to do diaper changes..onesies of course come in handy as well.
I wouldn't worry about buying too many things like pants/shirts but thats just me. Things that breathe easy around the waist area are great cause you need to protect the belly button area until if comes off...little sleepers with feet are great too.
As for the other things...I would get a box of newborn diapers to start with (like 96 count or so..), a tube of balmex or desitin, definitely wipes-i went through a crazy amount in the beginning (those first few days of poop are gross!!) and one bottle of johnson and johnson baby shampoo or baby wash will do the trick. We sponge bathed him basically once a week till the cord fell off and you don't need much at all..
Hope this helps!!!
