Round 2 of betas today - prayers please - UPDATE on Page 5
Because of my history of ectopic, my OB had me go for an initial beta yesterday. I'll find out the results today at noon (I have an appointment with him) and then he'll send me for the 2nd round of betas to make sure my numbers are doubling the way they should be. I'm so beyond nervous. I haven't had any of the cramping or spotting that I had with my ectopic, so I have high hopes this time, but it's so hard to get excited until I know for sure that everything looks good.
I got my BFP on Sunday and literally the very next day my sore boobs went away. Then Tuesday they were there, but the soreness was so minimal compared to what it had been. I know these symptoms can fluctuate, so I'm trying not to read into it too much. It's so hard in the beginning because you don't FEEL pregnant yet, so the only thing to go based on is the betas. I'm hoping they look good today 
If you can spare any, please say some prayers for us today I'll update as soon as I get back from my OB appointment!

Round 2 of betas today - prayers please
Sending prayers! And symptoms totally fluctuate so try not to worry. I just got a BFP, I am about 6 weeks 1 day and I had sore boobs and cramps a few days ago and over the weekend nothing, my boobs feel back to normal. I also had some dizziness yesterday and today I feel fine. It all varies and is no indication of anything bad.

as you know, we were in the same boat! Don't be nervous, and don't let the initial beta scare you. For me, my first beta was only 5, and they told me that they thought it was a chemical because it was so low. They assumed the levels were higher a day or two before, and then dropped down to 5.
I went back 2 days later, assuming to hear them say the levels were 0. They were in the 30s. From there, the rose very quickly.
Long story short, the initial beta does not matter, and don't let the doctors scare you if it is a low starting #. As long as they double for your 2nd beta, you are FINE!
eta: I totally understand how you are feeling. I was the same way after my ectopic, and unfortunately, it won't go away. Even after I heard the heartbeat, I was terrified and skeptical before every appt. I am 20/21 weeks now, and just started feeling calm lol

Thank you so much for this - it made me feel so much better. I don't know what my initial beta is yet (I'll find out shortly) but I was preparing myself for the worst already. It's so reassuring to know that it can be low and still be OK.

Good luck! I haven't had an ectopic, but I had several chemicals so I know how stressful these early days can be. For me, the 2 weeks between finding out and getting to 6 weeks were 1000x worse than the 2 week wait.
As a pp said, don't stress about the first number. It's good to have, but it won't tell you much until you hear the 2nd.

Don't let "symptoms" that come and go scare you!!!! Mine were there one day and gone the next and then back! Its a roller coaster in the beginning.

Update: I met with my OB and he isn't hopeful. My initial beta came back at 86. I'm 4 weeks 2 days and he felt it was on the very low end. He also wasn't too happy to hear that my breast soreness has decreased. He's sending me for the second beta tomorrow morning and said to just take it easy until we see those results since the numbers are all relative.
Trying so hard to stay positive right now. Some of the personal experiences on this site are helping me to try to keep things in perspective. I know that first beta doesn't mean too much without the second one, so I'm still hopeful. The hardest part is just waiting and not knowing. Luckily I go for my 2nd beta tomorrow at 7:30AM and my doctor said he should have the results by early afternoon.

Good luck. 84 isn't low and it has more to do with the second number compared to the first as you know. As for the boobs, mine were never sore. I wouldn't read too much into symptoms. Keep us updated.

My breasts are sore every month when I get my period. With my 2 kids, NEVER SORE. Im not up on beta numbers But Ive heard ladies on here with lower betas go on with full term pregnancies. Good luck. Hope everything turns out fine

Agreed! I think my first beta with DD was like, a 29 or something like that. See how the second beta goes- the numbers should double.

I was a little surprised too. I haven't looked at a chart in a while, but if memory serves me correct, I thought anything from like 5 - 450 was normal at this point (or something like that). I was 15DPO (4w1d) when the blood was drawn. But he said multiple times that he was concerned at how low it was and that at this point he is not optimistic that it's viable. But he reiterated that the numbers are all relative and he needs to see the second beta. I happen to like my OB, but I left feeling pretty defeated. Not his fault, but just the reality of the possibility of another loss.

Aw it's so tough but I agree with your range, I remember reading anything over 10 is viable. I've also seen such low first betas on here and as long as they've doubled and risen properly they did lead to a healthy baby! Hang in there!!!!!

86 isn't low at all, first of all. Your O day could be off, too. Plus, the initial beta doesn't really matter...they all start at 0, obviously. As long as it's doubling in about 48 hours, it's fine!

I agree. There is a wide range for betas. And the most important thing is the doubling.

Also, in each of my pregnancies, my symptoms varied tremendously from day to day.

I've always had very low betas. Always under 50. The thing your dr should focus on is if they double every 48-72 hours. Also, my boob soreness decreases quickly. It was how I knew I was pregnant but gone days later. A bit sore but nothing terrible. Stay positive!! The first few weeks are so hard!!

I wouldn''t go on symptoms - I barely had any. And an 86 for a first beta is not low as long as it doubles the way it's suppose to. My first beta was a 9 and I am watching him sleep next to me right now! I was told to prepare myself for a chemical but the numbers kept doubling and more and I had betas for nearly 2 plus weeks with my RE until we could see something on a sono. Good luck!
