Update: I met with my OB and he isn't hopeful. My initial beta came back at 86. I'm 4 weeks 2 days and he felt it was on the very low end. He also wasn't too happy to hear that my breast soreness has decreased. He's sending me for the second beta tomorrow morning and said to just take it easy until we see those results since the numbers are all relative.
Trying so hard to stay positive right now. Some of the personal experiences on this site are helping me to try to keep things in perspective. I know that first beta doesn't mean too much without the second one, so I'm still hopeful. The hardest part is just waiting and not knowing. Luckily I go for my 2nd beta tomorrow at 7:30AM and my doctor said he should have the results by early afternoon. 
i don't think that is low at all! don't let your dr make you upset. he should have waited until you got the results of the next beta, because the initial one can vary widely. who knows when you implanted?

My sis had a much lower beta and she has a 4 year old from it. Don't give up and your dr should have said he was cautiously optimistic. Based on your history I can see them being cautious but to say it doesn't look good is premature IMO.

Any updates yet?? Fingers crossed for you!!
Also.. side note... my first beta was around 64 and then the 2nd one 48 hours later was in the 300s i believe.
I'm currently almost 33 weeks now with a baby giant lol

I was a little over 5 weeks and my first beta was only 27.5 and I had zero symptoms. My next beta went to a 68 still lower than your first. My baby is 7 months today. Don't lose hope, you are not out and everyone has different symptoms which come and go. Praying for you!

Updating to say I don't have much of an update yet. Doctor's office called yesterday to say they were still waiting on the beta results. I guess the lab ignored the "STAT" on the prescription. Hopefully I'll have some news this morning. I did have some lower back cramping on Wednesday night, but it wasn't terrible and wasn't accompanied by any spotting or anything. And my sore bb's came back yesterday and today. I'm remaining hopeful
ETA: I really want to thank everyone for all of the support and prayers. This board is just amazing. We haven't told any family or friends yet, so its just very comforting to have a place to come and get support and encouragement.

My first beta was in the 50's! And it was a successful pregnancy. The other posters are right....the first one doesn't matter as much as how it rises. That's what my dr's office told me.

Doctor's office still doesn't have my results  I've tried calling the lab about 300 times but it's just an automated service and they don't actually answer. I really hope I don't have to wait until Monday to find out.

It's driving me so crazy that I POAS just to make sure the line wasn't getting lighter from last week. Its not Dark as night. But that still doesn't tell me much. I need that number!!!
