8x4 or 9x5 loaf pans?

if a recipe calls for 9x5 but i only have 8x4 - does it matter much? i like to buy the aluminum disposables (in a small apt. kitchen)? thanks

I would get the deeper, but less wide pan for that to be honest.

thanks - i don't think they make the disposables less wide though? i'll check. the recipes for pumpkin bread - guess i'll be cramming another pan into the cabinet Chat Icon

Get the soft-side ones. I love them for bread especially since it is the hardest to remove in one piece.

oops - i bought them before i read your post. i got the 9x5 size (set of 2 from Liquidators) for $6. i don't think the sides are soft though - they are nonstick "Wearever" brand? we'll see. thanks

Wow that is a good price. The nonstick should help. I personally am a mess when I try to get that perfect loaf out of the panChat Icon
