9 months old with only 2 bottom teeth....table food?
It seems like all the other 8/9 month olds are eating atble foods and such. Lauren only has her 2 bottom teeth, she can eat puffs but anything chunky makes her gag. I had to flip her upside down a couple nights ago and pat her back because she started choking on pureed broccoli/carrots that had just tiny little chunks in it.
What should/could be eating with only 2 bottom teeth?

Re: 9 months old with only 2 bottom teeth....table food?
DD only had two teeth at that age and I would give her soft foods like eggs, pancakes, and cheese. She had only two teeth for awhile and eventually I gave her more and more. They say the gums are just as tough as the teeth. I never had an issue with DD choking or gagging though. I know some other posters have so it really depends I guess.

Re: 9 months old with only 2 bottom teeth....table food?
DS is 11 months and gags so I haven't given him too much table food. I don't think it has so much to do with teeth, but as long as they can gum the food to soften it
Although I'm not the best one to give advise since DS will choke on anything too thick or it's a texture he doesn't like. Many times I've had to quickly pull him out of the highchair and pat him on the back so he can throw-up all over the floor
The kid is going to be on pureed food till he's in college

Re: 9 months old with only 2 bottom teeth....table food?
My DS had no teeth at all until 13 months old and he ate EVERYTHING! Their gums are very strong and can chewy anything. my DS was eating steak and chewing it before he swallowed way before he had any teeth. Even now at almost 17 months he only has 5 teeth, 2 on top, 2 on the bottom and one molar coming in.

DD is the same way! She actually gagged on 1/2 a puff the other day and threw up. She's just not good with textures/chunks yet and i'm so paranoid about choking!! We're still on stage 2 foods and the only table foods she really has is mashed up banana and avacado.

They don't need teeth to eat table foods
My 9.5 month old has NO teeth and eats just about everything we eat
They can gum lots of stuff!

Re: 9 months old with only 2 bottom teeth....table food?
Kids can eat all soft table foods even with NO teeth. My DD did not get a single tooth until she was one and starting at 6 months we were giving her table food. By 9 months she was on mostly all table food as opposed to baby food. She ate everything we ate for the most part. Scrambled eggs, shredded chicken, pancakes, waffles, cheese, yogurt, meatballs, pasta, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, cream cheese and jelly sandwich, grilled cheese, etc. etc. etc. A baby's "gumming" and chewing of food is very strong, as strong as if they had teeth. The only thing they can't do is tear and chew tougher things like a steak for example. Honestly, you can really try lots of different things by her age.

DS cut his first tooth at 13.5 months. He was on table food long before he had any teeth.
