How was everyone's Mother's Day

Mine started fantastic. Got woken up by DD at 7am on the ONE day of the year that I figured I would actually get to sleep in. Dh decided to tell her just to laydown in bed with us and be quiet. She decides she's going to start a conversation. I took her to the out to feeds ducks, while DH slept. No breakfast, no gift, nada. I even made my own dinner reservation.

It seems that most are underwhelmed and expect more and it upsets many of us. All day long I have seen how moms have been disappointed. When the kids are younger it is cute with all their little gifts. As they get older, they don’t realize how it hurts us that on our one day we don’t feel appreciated.

Sorry to hear that Chat Icon but hey Father’s Day is around the corner, maybe someone needs a little taste of their own medicine! Chat Icon

Mine was pretty laid back. I actually was able to take my time showering, doing my hair and my makeup without feeling rush or not being able to finish getting ready which has been the case in previous years. U know...helping the hubby and getting the kids ready before urself. We went to eat at Alexandros and had the best short ribs ever!!!!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! The kids made their own Mother’s Day cards which was super cute and wrapped some of their own toys to give me as gifts Chat Icon.

Re: How was everyone's Mother's Day

My Mother's Day was actually amazing, BUT it was partially due to fact that I took charge and let my husband know what my expectations were. He did have a beautiful flower arrangement delivered and had cards from him and the kids, but the rest of the day I orchestrated and it was exactly what I wanted. I learned long ago not that it I wanted a perfect day, then I needed to spell out exactly what my idea of that perfect day should entail.

Also, I would have told your husband to take her to feed the ducks and then went right back to bed!

How was everyone's Mother's Day

Mother's Day went well overall, but nothing too exciting. I got flowers and a card and we went on a hike and got take out. I still did all my regular Sunday chores as they need to get done.

I will say this is better than how my birthday went when my DH forgot to get me a cake so you are not alone with a clueless DH.

Mine was great, but I planned a day with my kids because they wouldn't have planned it for me. Next year plan your own fun with your child and don't rely on your husband to create your happiness for the day ??

This is exactly right. You can't assume men will know what to do. I learned a long time ago that if I tell my DH what I want, he will do it and I will be happy. Yesterday was a little annoying because we had sports for the kids and DH actually ended up going to Mother's Day brunch with his mom while I ran around to sports fields (go figure!) but then we were spending the afternoon with my family so we really didn't have an option.

Actually my husband was the one to get me flowers and annoyed the kids didn’t really go out of their way to do much.

I don’t think many of us are asking for the world for Mother’s Day but as they get older, it seems it doesn’t matter as much to them as it does to us.

These silly made up holidays are actually worse for many it seems.

Fine. My DD made me a card at school and was so excited to give it to me. She made DH get me bagels and flowers. Her excitement was adorable.

Mine was ok. DD made me a card listing the reasons she loved me and why I was a great mom.
#1 was because I buy her Robux Chat Icon Thanks kid.

DH tried his best, but got caught up doing something in the house - so it was just a usual Sunday for the most part. He did give me a little plant and a gift card - so I was happy.

Re: How was everyone's Mother's Day

We spent FIVE hours in the car one way to get to my parents house. I did get to sleep in. My kids made me cute cards and gave me lego flowers. They are really lovely. We also splurged on lobster rolls to eat in the car on our drive. I did not realize that the trip which is normally 2 hours would take five.

You know what, I had no problem making a reservation for dinner and i wasn't really expecting anything major. I was just more pissed off that he got to sleep in until 10am while I was up early. I said something last night and he's like well I told DD to lay down with us. No way I could have slept through her non stop chattering.

How was everyone's Mother's Day

I really don't care much about Mother's Day. My daughter is 12. So, she's too old to make a card or other gift in school, but too young to actually go to the store and get me a card or gift. I think the day just came up quickly, so my husband didn't take her to the store to get me anything. But, he cooked a nice breakfast and he told our kid that she was to come to Mass without any complaint! LOL! That was actually fine with me!

Later, we went to my parents' house for dinner. My mother always wants to host, so that's what we did.

Same here.

It was uneventful as it usually is. We stayed home, relaxed and I made a nice dinner for us. Not having to rush anywhere and getting to spend time with DH and the kids is all I need. It was a nice day. Chat Icon

Men are so clueless sometimes. I believe they need step by step instructions for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays etc. Tell him you're sleeping in next saturday to make up for it and force yourself to stay in bed until noon, even if it kills you. Put on some shows and enjoy yourself!

I'm pretty sure she said what's not to love. All she wanted was to sleep later and her husband let her daughter wake her up and then slept in himself. I guess you both missed that part?

Ummm...........The title of the post is literally, "How was everyone's Mother's Day".

We both answered.

Your reply to us was unnecessary.

That is super annoying. I agree! He should have gotten up and taken her out of there. I think you should tell him you get a rain check and do it another weekend.
