A baby bird fell out of its nest--what do i do?
It is still moving/breathing. It's laying on my steps. What can I do wit it?

I hope he didnt touch with his hands.. if so he may have left a sent on the bird and then the mother wont go near him/her.

The unfortunate thing is this - he was probably cast out for a reason,a nd there probably is no hope for him
The mommy bird does this for a reason - there is somehting wrong with the baby bird, and no matter how many times you put him back, she will keep throwing him out. I hate Spring because of the baby carcasses I see all over the place

he put gloves on. but I also read that he won't leave a scent bc birds have a bad sense of smell. I'll check tomorrow morning if the bird fell back out.

You are right, that is an old myth. I just got into birding and all the books say to put them back in the nest if you can. Your scent will not deter the parents. I hope it works out! We did it with a baby blue jay last year and it fell out 4 times! It was crying and so was I..but the parents found it and it was fine.
