A couple of failed IVF/FET cycle questions...
I don't want to start 100 posts, but I have a couple questions so I'll just put them all here.
Failed IVF questions:
1ish) Is there anything you can figure out after having a failed IVF? Such as why it didn't work? What our IF problem is? We thought maybe MF because of morphology issues, but ICSI bypassed that... so now what? Is there something wrong with my uterus that isn't allowing the babies to implant?
2) Does the fact that I had some reddish-pink (1 day) and brown (2 days) bleeding have any significance?
3) I got AF this morning after stopping progesterone last night. Does that have any significance? Do yo think my progesterone was low all along and that's why I had bleeding?
FET questions
1) What meds do you need?
2) Approximately how much do they cost out-of-pocket?
3) We put back 2 embies for our fresh cycle. Would you still put back 2 for the FET?

Re: A couple of failed IVF/FET cycle questions...
FET questions (I'll answer this based off my own cycle though each dr may be different)
1) What meds do you need? estrogen pills, baby aspirin, progesterone suppositories, PIO, and 2 meds that I can't think of off the top of my head, one that's taken for 5 days, 4x a day and the other taken for 5 days, 2x a day.
2) Approximately how much do they cost out-of-pocket? They told me around $4500 w/o insurance coverage, not including meds
3) We put back 2 embies for our fresh cycle. Would you still put back 2 for the FET? This I would ask the dr. about. We put back 2 for both our fresh and frozen cycles.
First of all There's probably not an answer as to why this didn't work. When they do ICSI, they take good looking sperm to inject to create the embryo, but it doesn't guarantee that THAT embryo is going to implant, KWIM? I just did my FET and had a 12 celled grade 1 embryo put back, that they were HIGHLY hopeful would implant and it did squat. Neither did my other one... it's just luck of the draw unfortunately.
Were you on progesterone suppositories? That will irritate you when you put them in, so that could explain your reddish/brownish bleeding, and I know they told me after transfer that I could see some blood that day or the day after...
How much progesterone were you on? I don't know if that has any significance- I stopped mine on Monday afternoon (was on 4 a day and had taken 2 by that point) and AF showed on Thursday fairly early in the day. HTH!

First I want to say I am sorry that your first attempt didn't work, I also just had a failed first attempt fresh cycle in Oct, and I am currently in my 2WW for the frozen cycle... so I a few answers for you but I am not a pro... just from my short expierence.
Fresh Cycle questions
1-We are not working on any MF or any uterous problems... they did say I had slight PCOS but didn't really do anything about it b/c she thought it was slight... Regarding the reasoning we are doing IVF it is b/c of our genetic traits, they had VERY high hopes for us due to the fact that there was really no fertility issues... but still the first cycle didn't work. I actaully have read that Fozen cycles are much more effect then the fresh cycles. I am hoping b.c as I stated above I am currently in my 2 week wait of my FET.
2- I am not sure about the bleeding...
3- the PIO is what delays your AF, once you stop it, that is the reason in which is starts...
For FET
1- I have only been on Estrogen patches, apply 2 every other day, then PIO shots 3 days b/4 transfer and then in your 2WW. Those are the only meds I have...
2- I am not sure how much they cost Out of pocket... sorry.
3- we put 2 fozen back, and I think thats what most people do.
Good Luck, IVF is an emotional journey, but you def have a great number frozen!!! Just stay positive!!!

Re: A couple of failed IVF/FET cycle questions...
1) After #1 failed, we set up an appt with the RE to go over it. We determined that although of course they can't be 100% sure, my eggs had a lot of fragmentation. Which led me to go on Metformin for Round 2.
2) I don't think the bleeding had any significance BUT I also had that 2 days before BFN and I was on PIO shots...that was my "red flag" pardon the pun.
3) I'm not sure about getting AF..I think I got mine maybe 2 days after stopping the shots. But like I said above I knew something wasn't right when I started bleeding before the beta.

With Me, I have one blocked tube. After my first failed IVF, I had a laporoscopy to remove the tube. But, once they were in, there was too many adhesions to remove the tube. But, they did clear it up somewhat. AS for your uterus, did you have an HSG done or a water sono? If not, I would get this done before doing any other cycles. I had uterine factor as well. I previously had fibroids and got them removed prior to IVF. Also, have you had any immune testing done? Some doctors advocate it and others do not. Prior to doing IVF , I had all the testing done (but in another clinic) and only found that I was autoimmune to my thyroid. Some women have clotting disorder, elevated Natural Killers (just to name a few.)
3) Do yo think my progesterone was low all along and that's why I had bleeding? You should ask your RE about you levels. Here is a link. Scroll down to Pregnancy Hormones for Progesterone. http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html
FET questions
1) What meds do you need? It depends on your protocol. I was on menopur, pio, (sorry, I cannot remember the others) It was a cake walk compared to the FREsh
2) Approximately how much do they cost out-of-pocket? My insurance covered it, but it should be no more than $3000. Some things are not considered infertility, so your insurance might cover most of the FET.
3) We put back 2 embies for our fresh cycle. Would you still put back 2 for the FET? I would put back 3. I did and I am now pregnant with one baby. It took 1 IVF, and 2FET to finally get pregnant! Good Luck to you and do not lose hope!

Re: A couple of failed IVF/FET cycle questions...
1) My 1st IVF cycle ( ended up a chemical- 13 were retrieved, only 2 very poor quality ( 3&4 cell embies) made it to transfer, w/ none to freeze....
When we met w/ the RE to discuss the cycle, we decided to change the med protocol and that made a huge difference for us with both quality and quantity for cycle # 2 ( 26 at ER, 4 made it to a 5 day blast stage) and 3 are now frozen...Sometimes, tweaking the meds will have an impact I was told and that was the case for us...As for trying to pinpoint what would cause a cycle to not result in BFP, I think is extremely hard to determine, it seems to be a combo of trial and error and chance - Even though it would seem that by bypassing all the variables, the only thing left is for the embie to implant , theres so much more to the logistics of it I'm sure ( and it still stinks none the less..)
2) Dont know about the spotting ...
3) I got my AF 2 days after stopping the progesterone and I would think that your RE was monitoring your progesterone during the cycle, so that would seem to be normal ( although I'm not sure) These are all really good questions to ask the RE when you have a sit down to discuss though

Re: A couple of failed IVF/FET cycle questions...
[:
1ish) Is there anything you can figure out after having a failed IVF? Not really. Remember, an IVF cycle only increases the chance of actual conception to approx. 40%. There are so many things that could be wrong. The embryos could be genetically "wrong", they may not have been able to implant, etc., etc. Think of how many people have zero issues and it still takes them months to get PG.
2) Does the fact that I had some reddish-pink (1 day) and brown (2 days) bleeding have any significance? It may have been low progesterone, could have been implantation but the embryo was not healthy or it could signal something else. It's something I would make sure to question my RE about.
3) I got AF this morning after stopping progesterone last night. Does that have any significance? Do yo think my progesterone was low all along and that's why I had bleeding? I think there is some significance to it. Most people get AF 2-4 days after stopping progesterone. Another question for your RE.
FET questions
1) What meds do you need? If you ovulate normally, you may not need anything but progesterone. They may just monitor you and do the transfer after you ovulate naturally. If you do not ovulate normally, they will do a hormone replacement where you take estrogen the first two weeks and progesterone the second two weeks.
2) Approximately how much do they cost out-of-pocket? I agree with approx. $3K for the whole cycle.
3) We put back 2 embies for our fresh cycle. Would you still put back 2 for the FET? You will have to speak to the RE about that. Depending on your age, embryo quality, etc. They may suggest you put three the next time or just stick with the two. I myself did 2 the first cycle, 3 the second, 4 the third and have been doing 6 at a time every transfer after.
