A Day at the Beach - A night in LDR
Well DH and I FINALLY got to have our photoshoot with Lorimarie and Barb. It was a beautiful and perfect day at Sunken Meadow Park and we were all having a great time until...
Towards the end of the shoot, I felt a little dizzy. I never got dizzy before so I didn't really think much of it. Then all of a sudden, I called out to DH, asked him to come over and the next thing I know I am on the sand with DH, Barb and Lori around me. It seems as if I fainted which I have NEVER done before. I have no recollection of how I got to a sitting position.
I rested sitting up as Barb and Lori looked for help. Barb got me some water and then the two of them looked for someone to come get me to the parking lot so we could get to an ER.
We were a ways away from LIJ, but I really wanted to go there in the event I needed to stay overnight. Since I was conscious and not in any pain, DH thought it was ok as did I. We got to LIJ about as quickly and legally as DH could drive. I was awake and alert and not in any pain (besides a headache) so he felt I'd make it there with no problem.
We got to the ER and based on how many weeks I am, they sent me straight up to LDR. I filled in paper work and sat waiting. A nurse took my vitals and Ed-lie's heartbeat and I were fine. Then we waited a little longer until they took us to triage. They put a monitor on my uterus area and on the baby. The heart rate was fine. Apparently my uterus had extremely inconsistent and small contractions. They were not alarmed by it.
They did not admit me but they did call the doctor on call that night with my practice and he felt I should go home. Bottom line was I hadnt had anything significant to eat or drink for a while and I should have. They gave me juice and graham crackers. It is EXTREMELY rare for me not to eat or drink. I simply forgot. I did ask if it was ok for me to be on my feet and work secretly hoping they would say "no" so I wouldnt have to go back to summer school, but no luck. DAMMIT.
The care I got at LIJ was wonderful. The place may need a facelift in terms of aesthetics, but the care I received was top notch. They took everything very seriously.
On a positive note, I got to see Ed-lie again. The doctor there did a bit of a growth sono. Ed-lie is measuring at 6 pounds and 3 ounces with VERY long legs. She comes from big stock as I am 5ft 8 and the women in DH's family are all over 5 ft 9. The doctor was impressed.
We are eternally grateful to Barb and Lori for taking such good care of me and making sure I was safe and on my way. I am also very grateful to DH for being calm and keeping me calm so I did not freak out.

OMG- you poor thing! Well thankfully everything turned out just fine- but that HAD to have scared the everliving sheet out of everyone involved.
You got "the vapors" That happend to me at Home Depot at the end of my last pg. I wound up sitting my huge tookus on a potting soil display trying to somehow get my head between my knees.
Not much longer Leslie!!!

Re: A Day at the Beach - A night in LDR
Thanks.
I offered the doc there, who was rather young, 100 bucks to take the baby right now since she seemed pretty confident that she would be born healthy if I was really in labor. She chuckled and said no. So I said "You got student loans?" She perked up and said "Hmmm, NOW you got me." I had to keep my spirits up somehow.
Whatw as funny is that all of us waiting to be seen got tagged with names. There was:
"Contracting lady" "Lady with pain" and me "Fainting lady"
DH and I had a bit of fun with it.

I don't suppose that Lori or Barb had the wicked presence of mind to get pics of this event?

Nah, but I did have an audience wondering why they were taking pictures of me as if I may have been someone famous. It was kinda funny.

OMG! How scary!! So glad that all is well with you and your future supermodel!! LIJ is such a fantastic hospital. They took such wonderful care of my grandma years ago. And their Maternity Ward is amazing! The babies are on lock-down, so nothing shady goes down. Please take it easy and remember to eat!! Sorry you have t go back to summer school, but remember... only 3 more weeks!

OK OK!!!
Ed promised he would keep me hydrated and fed. As for my daughter, the current placement of her foot in my ribs is reminder enough that I have to take care of myself.

Re: A Day at the Beach - A night in LDR
I passed out in BRU while I was pregnant. We were working on my registry and I knocked down a whole display of bath toys. It was so scary, and I got sent to so many docs for testing by my OB.
I am glad that you and the baby are OK.
And I can't wait to see the Lori AND Barb picks! A double whammie, you lucky girl!!!
