A few more self tanner questions
So I got a spray tan for a recent trip. I looked ridiculous the first two days . . . Way too dark for my naturally stark white skin and my legs were several shades lighter than the top half of my body. I was offered either a dark or regular shade and opted for the regular. I'm wondering if she accidentally switched the two. Might try someone different next time.
The biggest issue I had was it wearing off. It stayed great on some parts of my body but it inevitably starts to come off and looks like you have a skin disorder. Is there any way around this? My hands and wrists were looking ridiculous by days 3 and 4. I think it was almost completely gone from my face by day 4 but other parts of my (my arms for example) were still very dark. How do you deal with this? Do you apply more self tanner during your trip? I've seen people say they get their natural tan while on vacation but I don't really tan and I'm trying to avoid the sun for the obvious cancer/wrinkle reasons. I'm going on a 7 day cruise and I don't want to look like a splotchy freak half way through.
Another thing is it didn't really take to my face. I have pretty oily skin and I think it just won't absorb or something. Anyone else experience this?

Re: A few more self tanner questions
I have no experience with self-tanners, but I’ve read a lot that exfoliating helps a lot. A friend of mine shaves and then puts self-tanner on. It never comes out streaky. I would take a shower (exfoliate) and take a rest for 30-40 mins. I would then put the tanner on and take a few minutes to let it settle.
However, I’m someone who can hold a tan for a year or more. I just lay out once in the summer, and it’s done. It lasts me for at least a year.

Yes, I did exfoliate and followed all of her directions to a T. It seems the tan coming off in certain areas is inevitable from my experience. I’m wondering if this is what happens to everyone and if there’s a way around it. All I can think is applying more tanner to just those areas?
I wish I could tan like you! I used to go tanning years ago and I’d have to go like 5 or 6 times before I got any significant color. I hate to even think what I did to my skin...

I have done several spray tans and many different brands of self tanners and it has never come off in certain areas. It has always faded naturally and evenly for me Not sure what is causing that

Re: A few more self tanner questions
OP, maybe try a special applicator? Or spray tans? I’ve heard great things about spray tans.

I guess I’m just unlucky? It always comes off my hands and wrist area from washing my hands throughout the day (after it’s set, I know you wash for 8 hours or whatever is recommended). I also notice that it fades unevenly on my neck, the creases fade faster. My face barely holds the color at all.

Whoops, sorry, I should read better. I’d try another salon.

Re: A few more self tanner questions
I bought something called a "tan extender" from my salon. It is a lotion with a little bit of self tanner and it keeps the spray tan looking even for a little longer.
