A friend at work today...
told me that she is NOT having a girl, after thinking that she was for the past 14 weeks
She already had her shower & now has to re-paint her nursery & return all the dresses!
She was having mild cramping this past weekend & then started to have spotting so they did a sono & lo & behold they found Boy Parts!
How crazy is that???

Re: A friend at work today...
Was it a mistake on a previous sono or she was just "convinced" it was a girl?

Re: A friend at work today...
Yikes...I know the feeling..although thankfully we found out before the shower and the paint we picked was neutral.
Hopefully she can return everything and get prepared in time.

That is my biggest fear since I have not had a sono since the 20 week one. I am having the baby next Tuesday, if it comes out a boy, I am in bigggggg trouble

Re: A friend at work today...
That's what scares me about girls - we seem to be hearing this so often now. I make them check it's a boy every single time. I can't imagine what I'll be like if they tell me I'm having a girl for the next pregnancy - paranoid the entire time!!!

Re: A friend at work today...
Wow, this is crazy!!!
I hope I get another sono in a few weeks, although I know there's no guarantee we will. We went for a fetal echo when we were a few days under 20 weeks, and they said and even have a pic of the girl parts. Then, we went for the Level II three days later, and we didn't tell the tech we knew, and she said and showed us the parts too. So, I should be fairly convinced, but I'm still scared!!!!!!!!

Re: A friend at work today...
biggest fear right here....this seems so common! i am dying for another sono and it doesn't look like that's going to happen. they told me at my level II but that was 10 weeks ago and what if the boy parts were too small or hidden away at that point!? i have all things picked out...just keeping my fingers crossed now!

Re: A friend at work today...
LOL.....
I have a friend of mine that is a Sono technician and he told me that the reason mistakes happen are:
1. Parents only hear Boy/Girl at a Sonogram without listening to what the technician says..If the tech says to you "well Im going to say its a girl b/c I dont see a penis" that usually really means that the tech isnt getting a real good few and usually they are correct..BUT the tech is suppose to see a penis & scrotum for a boy & labia for a girl...No tech has seen labia and then it magically turns out to be a boy the tech got it wrong b/c he/she didnt see a penis...
2. The tech is a completel idiot!!!!!!!
Ask to see what the tech is seeing on the screen...ask for a picture of it...If there are Labia then its a girl...if their is a penis then it is a boy..Both can be very very distinct if you are getting a good shot....

My tech clearly found the labia. She was pointing it out to us (not that we really knew what she was showing us) and when I asked her HOW sure she was, she exclaimed "100%!!" So I'm just gonna bank of my tech's confidence.
