Now I have to say, this little girl is very sweet and cute. I just cannot believe that a kindergartner is writing this way!! A few of my friends/family who saw the picture on my page messaged me about it, thought I'd share it here.

My son (who is 6) saw the picture and didn't even know what "hot" meant (which i think is the way it should be). He smiled and was like "oh lexi always says she wants to marry me". I feel like half the girls in the class are this way, its insane to me!!! They are too little to talk like this!! Sigh..

It's cute, but I don't think kids at that age really know what they mean by saying those things.

That is some note! Girls do mature earlier than boys. My son is naive and when he plays with my friends daughters, he always says they are too silly because they aren't on the same level yet.

Funny story - I was watching my friend's 6 year old and 6 month old daughters as well as my son when he was 6 months old. The older girl told me that her younger sister(meaning the 6 month old) is in love with my son and you can tell because she was sticking her chest out. I was thinking, Lord help me Chat Icon

Oh I totally agree...they don't "get it". But i still think its kinda crazy that they know the phrases to say you know? 6th GRADE maybe, not 6 years old lol.

Yikes. As the mom of a 13 month old DD, it scares me a little to think that one day (not so far away), that might be my little girl talking like that…

But then again –When I was 6 or 8 (can’t remember), we went on a school trip to the circus. When I came home, I told my mom I wanted to be naked with the tiger trainer. I had NO IDEA what that meant, but I heard my friend saying that she saw her parents naked together.

My DD is six and they say these things all the time. They don't understand what they really mean but they hear it all time on TV shows (even the Disney channel shows), movies like high school musical etc. I try to gear them towards more appropriate comments like, I like your shirt or you are a good friend, etc.

Funny story....a couple of months back DD was coming home saying "don't use your tongue, just your lips" over and over and was like what the heck...are these kids french kissing in first grade. I rushed myself up to school and it turned out they were teaching her how to use a straw (she is in special ed) and she kept putting her tongue over the top of the straw so the liquid couldn't get up. So now the school thinks I have a dirty mind lol.

Re: A friend posted this on my FB page (drawing/note her DD wrote to my son).

My DD is almost 6, just finished Kindergarten and has never said any of that-never referred to anyone as "hot", never calls anyone baby.

She does talk about who she is going to marry and changes boys fairly often.

She doesn't watch shows that use these words and my DH and I don't say stuff like that around the kids. However, I bet my younger 2 start talking that way earlier since they will be exposed stuff/language etc that the now 5 year old is into.

I don't know how I feel about it. The 'baby' part really got me, at first, but now that I think about it, I have so many pet names for DH, I wouldn't be surprised if DD called someone one of those names. I love that she used 'dreamy', lol

AJ prefers 'handsome'

There's a boy in school named Elijah she calls him "handsome" and my aunt has a friend with a boy about her age with the same name and she says that is "Auntie's Elijah" ha!

I am sorry but I see no reason at all my child should know "Hot" and "Babe" I even had to stop calling my hubby that because I caught her calling him the same. For her its all about 'best friends'.

She picked up some choice phrases from school and I told her they were not to be repeated because they were mean. Not the same but here's my little story...

She started saying "what the..." over and over and it was bugging me. But it got bad when she was in her car seat, I'm driving, hubby sitting next to her while she was eating alphabet pretzels and I hear.. "What the ..F is broken?" Ok.. what she MEANT to say was the F was broken (as in the letter) but the way she delivered it it did NOT sound like that at all. It took all we had not to jump down her throat about it and calmly ask.. "what did you say?" and yes, she repeated it, showing us the broken letter.

From then on we pushed that we say Oh my gosh instead of What the.. and that What the.. is an ugly thing to say since its not a full sentence. We speak competely, right? So if you want to say what the .. than say what in the world.. (my childhood favorite)

My DD is 6 and I can totally see her or any of her friends doing this. My DD is my oldest and she doesn't watch any of those Disney shows but many of her friends have older siblings in middle school or 5th grade and they learn it from their siblings and then pass it on to the rest of the kids.

I don't think its that bad....

I know in my son's PRESCHOOL last year they would get in trouble for saying SEXY (if they said it).

Dreamy and marry you aren't that bad....I don't think babe is either....MAYBE hot would be a bit much for me, but even that isn't so bad.

My daughter thinks Sexy is a bad word, and I'm going to let her keep believing that. Not a fan of little kids talking like that to be honest.

I don't know. I am conflicted. Normally I would think it's kinda cute to get a little love note but there is something about a little girl saying "you're hot" and calling someone "baby" that doesn't sit quite right with me. I am sure it's completely harmless but I think if it were my DD who wrote a note like that I would be a little Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon . Just doesn't quite sound like a little girl, KWIM?

Kids are like sponges. All it takes is for them to overhear their parents talking, an older cousin talking, a tv show & they're going to use the word.

I know plenty of couples that use the word "Babe" to each other.

I don't think it's really a big deal
