A good friend of DH and I's mother just passed away....
It was a long journey...she had cancer and has been suffering for quite awhile. Our friends actually got married as soon as they could so her mother could be there.
What can we send to them? I want to do something more sentimental than flowers....
TIA!

I'm so sorry.....hmmm, let me think.
Honestly, I would probably send the flowers and a beautiful card letting them know you are there for them if they want to talk. Perhaps invite them for dinner, or offer to go there and spend time with them?

I am so sorry.
What about a donation in their name to the American Cancer Society or other favored charity?

I would not send flowers. I would send Bagels, or any type of food for them.

If your close you can bring over some food. Milk for coffee, deli meat, bread etc... I'm sure people are going to be stopping by to offer condolences. It may not seem personal but it will be helpful.

I like the American Cancer Society (the charity will usually send them a letter to tell them you donated in her name) and maybe some food.

I love the fruit flower baskets...one gal sent them to my grandmother when granddad passed. It was so cute, tasted great too. I'd also do a nice, handwritten card. Edible Arrangements

Re: A good friend of DH and I's mother just passed away....
aww, how sad Hopefully it will bring them comfort that she was at their wedding and she's no longer suffering.
Friend's of ours just lost a dad/FIL, and what I did (was inspired by moms who did it for me when I had my baby), I brought them a few trays of food. Pasta/meatballs/chicken, salad, and baked a cake. a loaf of fresh bread, some treats for their son. After such a tough day after the wake, they were happy to not have to cook (for that day or the next 2 days) and it was a personal touch that I cooked it myself.
whatever you do, Im sure it will be very sentimental. my condolensces
