a little annoyed
Today I went to the pediatrician and was supposed to get Gillians shots. We are leaving for florida saturday. She will be 6 weeks sunday. I thought I was seeing a dr bc I called from the hospital to make the appt with a dr. (the practice is rather large). well I found out it was a nurse practicioner and she kept saying today "Woops...I miscalculated...I cant give the shots until this sunday. Everything during todays appt was "let me go ask". It was making me a little nuts! Plus now we are going to florida and the baby has no shots!

Paulette can they get their shots before 8 weeks? I thought I had to wait, but I'd rather do them a little early if I can so we can go visit and stuff.
Hey when was gillian born? I thought 12/1 - why am I saying Hannah will be 5 weeks old on Friday and you are saying 6 weeks? am I miscalculating her age like I did my pregnancy

They can get their shots between 6 and 8 weeks, but NOT before 6 weeks.

Thanks for the info Steph...I'm going to try to get the doctor to do her shots at 7 weeks because we wanted to have people over for the superbowl but I was hesitating since she didn't have her shots yet.

Jodi...you are confusing our due dates that why...LOL You went on my due date and I think I went on yours.
Gillian was supposed to come 12/1 but came 11/26...you had hannah on my due date thats why Gillian is 5 weeks 3 days and Hannahs in the 4th week right now. They are 5 days apart. Also, you can get her shots week 6-8. She is 5 weeks 3 days and they wont budge.

Honestly, I wouldn't rush her shots especially right before a vacation. She could have a reaction or be very cranky while you are on vacation. Florida is still in the states so atleast its not something out of the country.
You may want to try a new practice if your unhappy with NP' so you don't have this problem again. But maybe its better she kept having to ask for help and check up rather then her just assuming.

we are going to orlando and you are right at least its in the states.Plus she did say babies inherit mothers immune systems so hopefully she will be ok.
I dont know if its NP's in general that I dont want...its just that my first appts from the hospital I kinda expected a dr to check her out. Thereafter for colds, antibiotics etc...its not a problem.

ahhh yes! I'm easily confused these days
Have a great trip!!! and yes they do inherit our immune system. I had an awful cold the first 2 weeks home from the hospital and I had the 24 hour stomach virus last week and i cared for her during most of it and she thankfully was fine!!!
