A little odd
I respond to a job position that was posted on the web. I both email and fax my resume. (My resume which obviously has my address and phone number on it)
And I get this reply:
"thank you Marissa,
as a result of the craziness on the web, we require a photo for security purposes prior to inviting web aplicants for interviews. can you please email a pic as photo id ?
thank you"
Im sorry- is it just me- or is this odd and FREAKY...
Let me get this straight- you now have all my info and you want a picture too????
I responded with:
I understand you on the craziness of the web, but there are just as
many jobs that are "sketchy" as there are applicants. Id be happy to
send you whatever you need, but is it possible for us to speak first?
I too, would like to make sure this job is legitimate.
Not my most professional respone... But REALLY?

I copy and pasted their reply- It was exactly as you see it here (The woman didnt even capitalize the 1st lett of her name- when she "signed" it...)

Don't do it. My dad did this once for an agency. They take the pic in order to discriminate. He actually called the dept of labor and they told him that it was unethical but not illegal. My dad is 75 and applied for a job. The minute his picture was emailed over, the agency stopped taking his calls.

I think Id reply something that wouldnt get me the job, thats for sure 
"can I see your resume to see that you've graduated high school, and are qualified to interview me? based on your writing, Im thinking otherwise"
or
"I can also attach a letter template for you to mail out to applicants if you'd like, as yours is not very professional. I can edit it and send it back to you promptly."

No way Im taking or interviewing for this job now- but wanted to get my point across that this is a little bizzare

I have also recently come across a number of jobs that ask for your SSN on the online application  NO WAY JOSE!!!!!!! NEVER give that out online!

Absolutely against the law unless looks are a bona fide requirement of the job (ie modeling).
I would send it to the Department of Labor. We don't even keep copies of people's drivers license & passports (at times, they have to show them to prove they can work in the US). We don't want any photographs near a personnel file.
