A question about dinner for working moms whose DH's come come late

What do you do for dinner? Do you make for the kids and eat with them? Do you make the same for everyone and save DH's? Do you make something seperate and eat with DH when he gets home?

Both DH's and my diets have gone to shite because I find myself eating toddler food and am too tired to cook anything seperate. DH comes home and often eats cerel.

The nights that DH can't make it to dinner (which, thankfully, isn't all that frequent because I'm a MESS in the kitchen - he usually cooks), I make dinner for all of us. I'll sit down and eat with Alex, and will save a plate of food for DH.

Otherwise, if I'm too exhausted, there's a Cosi a minute away from our house, so I just go there, eat a salad and sandwich with Alex, and bring a sandwich home for DH.

It depends. I try to make dinner for all of us and eat with DD, but there are somethings that DD likes and DH does not- so if I end up making that, DH is on his own or I'll whip up something quick.

I am a SAHM now. But DH has worked late (gets home between 9:15 and 10pm every night) or years.

When I was working I would come home from work, cook, eat, and save him a plate.

If I were working now. I would come home, cook, eat with DS, and save DH a plate.

DH works nights, so he's never there. Some days he'll make dinner & leave in the fridge; other days I'll make Gracie's or my MIL gives me leftovers from lunch..then mommy's left to fend for herself. DH will make himself something when he comes home...not ideal either.

I want to add - in our house, we never make separate meals. Since Alex was very young, she eats exactly what we eat for dinner, so I never have to prepare separate meals.

I cook and eat with the kids and save DH a plate (and the mess in the kitchenChat Icon ) for when he gets home...

Not sure what's considered late but I get home at 6:30 and DH gets home around 7 so I make something and then we all eat together around 7:15. DS gets a snack at like 4pm to hold him over. I try very hard for us all to eat the same thing. I used to have my nanny feed DS something different at like 5:30 but it was creating bad habits.

very wise! my 16month old will not eat anything we eat so I'm in the kitchen making 2 different meals every night
