Dinner options for weight watcher WORKING moms of babies

I'm going back to work in a few weeks Chat Icon

We struugle now every night with what to have for dinner and what to get when we do food shopping. DH doesnt cook and has no ideas for dinner. This will get tougher once I go back to work I'm sure. I'm trying so hard to lose weight too.

I need quick, easy and TASTY ideas...

Any suggestions?

WW has a crockpot cookbook. It comes in very handy.

Re: Dinner options for weight watcher WORKING moms of babies

DH and I used to both work in Manhattan. We always got home so late but I couldn't lose weight eating take out.

I love the Weight Watcher Make it in Minutes Cook book. There are delicious meals you can make in 15 20 or 30 minutes. The ingredients are all common. I hate buying something to use in a recipe and never using it again and with this book that doesn't happen.

When I was working FT I usually made a pot of veggie soup on the weekend to eat during the week. If there was no soup, we always had salad with diner.

Often on Sundays I'd make chicken and or a turkey meatloaf to have during the week. It was much easier to cook some veggies and just reheat the meat. Some weekends I'd cook 2 packages of chicken cutlets, 1/2 breaded to be used in chicken parm later in the week and 1/2 that had been lightly coated in Italian dressing for another quick dinner.

Fish cooks very quickly, steam some broccoli in the microwave and get some instant brown rice, and you can have dinner on the table in 15 minutes.

Hope this helps.

Re: Dinner options for weight watcher WORKING moms of babies

I love these suggestions... the only issue is the frozen dinners... I'm not a fan - they tend to be expensive, loaded with preservatives and lately the options aren't that exciting.

However, one WW frozen entree inspired me to grab some whole grain pene pasta, a jar of alfredo sauce and had DH throw some thin sliced chicken cutlets on the BBQ... made a nice low cal pene alfredo with grilled chicken.

I have the make it in minutes book - I totally forgot about that and didn't even think of fish. If there are other suggestions too I greatly appreciated it b/c I love variety in food... but never have time. I will get myself the WW crockpot book, I have a crockpot, but only have more fattening recipes.

Re: Dinner options for weight watcher WORKING moms of babies

My schedule varies, but I want to spend time with DD, not waste it by cooking when I get home, especially since there are other things I need to do for work and around the house in the evening... so the faster the meal the better. I don't love to cook, I do it b/c we need to eat and eating out/ordering in all the time gets expensive and is harder to keep points to a minimum.
