A question for anyone good with camera's and developing pics
If I took a pic of the tree's ( they are so pretty this time of year) and blew them up, would they come out blurry? I have a canon power shot Elph 7.1 mp ( I don't know if that would affect it or not ) I am totally clueless ,but I want some cool pics to hang in my hallway ! Any feedback would be appreciated

You should find out on your camera if you can change the file type from JPG to RAW.
When you zoom into JPG's (or enlarge them for print) you can see that it's not as detailed as a RAW photo. When you enlarge a RAW format, it's as good as what you see on the camera.

If you take the pictures at a good resolution it should print up fine. If you take it at a lower resolution, it will print up very pixelated.

Re: A question for anyone good with camera's and developing pics
There are several websites that will explain the relationship between the size of your digital files (megapixels and DPI or dots per inch) and the size print you can make.
If the picture was taken at a lower resolution then the megapixels and DPI will be smaller, yielding smaller prints. Many people choose this lower setting on their camera so they can take more pictures, not understanding how it effects print quality.
If the camera is set at the highest possible resolution then you should be able to blow up the photo larger.
The site below has a chart that will give you some guidance. If you do a search on Megapixels and print size you'll find more detailed sites explaining the relationship if you really want to delve into it.

You can also upload it to Shutterfly and hey will tell you what the max enlargement size is. I'm sure you can blow it up to 11x14 without issues, depending on the settings and file type

Even though your camera goes up to 7+ Mp, your settings might not have been set so that you get the optimum picture. What setting is your camera in? I know for mine, I shoot in RAW, have it on superfine, and large size in terms of pixels.. These settings usually give you large size files (a few megs) and don't give you as many shots on your memory card.
