A silly vent that I can't do much about anyway...
DH doesn't drive due to vision problems. He never has driven, and never will.
So I drop him off and pick him up at work every day. It's about a 15 minute drive.
Emily has been napping from about 2:30-4:30. I usually wake her up at 4:30 so we can leave by 5 to go get him....
I haven't woken her up yet today. I'm letting her sleep. I have to get her in a few minutes if she doesn't wake up, but I kinda wanted to see how long she'd nap for....
I just feel so bad waking her every day. I have tried to put her to nap earlier, but she isn't tired yet when I do. I just wish I didn't always have to pick him up. I know eventually she won't need the naps, but with the busy weekends we have I know she is tired and I just wish I could let her sleep right now.

Re: A silly vent that I can't do much about anyway...
She is such a beast too when I wake her up. I am OK with admitting that my DD can be a "beast" sometimes-----she is the sweetet thing in the world, but when I wake her from naps she refuses to leave the crib, hits, screams, cries, everything. She just has a fit and wants to go back to sleep. WHen she wakes up on her own she is happy and enthusiastic.
I just hate EVERY day having to wake her. And it's such a project to get out of the house too because she's so cranky and I can't even get her out of her crib let alone shoes on, pee on the potty first, down the steps and out the door.
Right now even though we don't ahve to pick him up for 30 minutes we are going to be so late since I am late in waking her.

Im assuming there arent any other options for you? Like carpooling or a train?
I know what you mean when you say they become a little beastly when you wake them up. Kaila is the same way, sometimes I just have to leave her in her room to wake up and adjust lol

Can someone from his work take him home some days?

I agree, maybe a carpool, or something?

thanks ladies ---
everyone at his job works in the opposite direction. we're in levittown and his job is in farmingdale. everyone from the company lives in suffolk except for one guy, and his wife picks him up too since they only have 1 car.
I would love him to take the bus, especially in nice weather, but he has issues with the walking because he had Guillian Barre Syndrome, and he is always tihnking that it would be too much walking for him. He'd have to walk a bit of a ways from our house to get to the bus station.

Can someone in the neighborhood that you trust- like maybe a teenager - come and sit there while you go get him? I do this with a good friends daughter sometimes when my DS is sleeping - or awake, she babysits sometimes. That might help.

Just maybe to make you feel better, if I let my son sleep much past 5 he doesn't go to sleep until late at night, and I feel like he doesn't get a good night's sleep. So I usually end up waking him even though we have no where to go. He is a beast too, but after a few minutes he is fine and I know he will go to sleep at bedtime.
