a "Social Experiment"
yesterday whilst bartending 2 girls came up for drinks. one appeared to be like 8-9 months pregnant..
i gave her her drink (what can ya do) and immediatly said to the waitress "ummmmm........." and she was like "i KNOW! is she pregnant?" and i was like "i think so"
then the waitress inssited it looked fake. i dont know.
turns out her friend was talkign to this couple while waiting for his drink and they told me it was a "social experiment" and it was a pillow.
i told the waitress and she was like "i thought so"
the "pg" girl comes up and gets a shot.
then goes outside to smoke., at the sme time my waitress was out there smoking herself at the time.
so the "pg" girl is like "oh man i need to sit down, my back is killing me........ oh my god! did you feel that? little f&cker just kicked, i htink he broke a rib!"
so im just curious what exactly are they experimenting? to see ppls reactionsor whaT?

I can see that being in Glamour or Marie Claire. They both do things like that in their magazines.

Re: a "Social Experiment"
Maybe if someone would say something to her or not get involved because it is "none of their business". I would say something, that behavior is inexcusable. I would say it in a tactful way, as not to insult her.
Remember the Seinfeld eppy when Elaine and George see the psychic and she is preggo and smoking. Elanie says something to her about how horrible it is and the psychic kicks them out of her house.

Re: a "Social Experiment"
Didn't Chelsea Handler do something like this in a skit once?
I think it was on "Girls Behaving Badly." She tried picking up a guy fake pregnant all the while drinking and smoking.

I agree. But to play devils advocate, what if someone looked preggo, but was just big and not preggo. Then, the bar could potentially be sued for discrimination. I would hate to be the bartender that did not serve someone thinking they were preggo and they turned out not to be.

I think the waitress should've offered her crack to ease the pain from the kicks.

true, and thats probably why there isn't a law like this already.
but honestly, some women - you'd be like hmmmm...can't tell if she's pg or not. while others - there's NO denying that there's a PG belly.
but i can definitely see why there's that grey area.

Re: a "Social Experiment"
Probably to see people's reactions ....I hate those 'experiments' And I personally would never say something to a stranger - My friend went out w/ her husband and had a glass of wine with dinner, which her OBGYN told her was perfectly safe. - The waitress flamed her when she ordered and a woman sitting at the table next to her made a HUGE scene about how irresponsible she was being .... - It's a personal choice and some people choose not to touch any alcohol during their pregnancy, others choose to have an ocassional drink. - Different Doctors have different opinoins also ........
But those "Experiments" are just SO obnoxious ........who is ANYONE to walk around lying just to get a reaction ??
Ed. for spelling

I agree with this 100%- some doctors say 1 glass of wine on a rare occassion is perfectly fine. I know plenty of people- my sister included- who did that and their babies were perfectly fine. Now if I saw something like the original post describes- doing shots, smoking- that's another story.

Yes, it was hilarious.
I agree with the others - if it was a social experiment, it was done purely for shock value. Unless, however, they write a column for a paper or magazine...

Re: a "Social Experiment"
I think its interesting and could make for an interesting thesis or something. I wanted to go for my master in psych just so I could do my thesis. I was going to dye my hair blonde and brunette and act the same way in the same place and see if there were any differences.

Re: a "Social Experiment"
i am assuming peoples reactions but i think that is kinda a stupid "experiment"
i mean come on....anyone would know that one would be outraged that these "PG " people would be drinking or smoking
so what is the experiment really
i don't think it was an experiment at all..
i think they just like the attention
i would NOT have served them
