Re: AAA

We belong to it. Its worth it IMO. We already used the towing 3 times this year. They offer discounts on Travel andyou can write to them for maps and stuff. When we went to Florida we had maps and they highlited all the stops we wanted to make and how to get there.

Re: AAA

i already have Acura Roadside assistance (which Ive used 2x this year) which is included in my car payments (they say its free but thats BS). I was looking to get discounts. IS it worth the $85 for the discounts alone?

Re: AAA

I think AAA is totally worth it, to be honest. We used it a bunch of times, and it covers any car you're riding in or anyone else who drives your car.

Re: AAA

If you go to www.aaany.com and click on member benefits you can get a good idea of ways you save money aside from hotel & travel related savings. They have prepaid movie tickets, discounts to theme parks, etc.

On travel alone, we have made back the annual dues. We just renewed it was $55 for the first card and $10 for the second. Since you have roadside assistance, you really only need one card for discounts.

Re: AAA

We were just talking about how I have to get added to DH's account. He's used them three times in the last year. Twice when each of us locked the keys in the car and once when we needed a tow after sliding into a ditch in the snow. It's paid for itself now! We would have been lost had we not had it.

I pay $85, but that is for AAA Plus, which provides up to 100 miles of free towing and a few other emergency items for free. The regualr AA membership is only about $45, I think.

Re: AAA

I have had my car towed so many times. I actually have AAA Plus. For that alone it is worth it, but the discounts are great too. The tour books, trip maps, movie tickets, discounted park admissions etc.

Re: AAA

OK, sorry to sound like an a$$ but I have roadside assistance with my car and also a navigation system built in... the only thing I would use it for would be discounts. Do you really get good deals? Im going to Disney in 2 months and would LOVE to get more than $45 off!!

you should have had AAA BEFORE you booked your trip!! you could have saved $$ on your hotel, rental car, etc. not sure that they'll give you a price adjustment on those things now if you join AAA, but i could be wrong. wouldn't hurt to ask.

Also if you go away and stay at a hotel..you can get a discount, plus if you go to Disney most of the places offer discounts as well.

It is worth the $8o a year

Re: AAA

I know that DH & I have easily saved what we spent on the membership. Many times we have had car rental & hotel rates reduced at the counter. And I don't know if you read my earlier post about getting discounts on non-travel related fees so there are other ways to save if you don't travel a lot.

Re: AAA

One discount I think they give is 10% at Payless shoes.....not when it's BOGO, though Chat Icon

They also have AAA days at the Riverhead outlet, where you can get coupons at the management office. I have never gone for that, but if you shop there a lot, I bet it would save you a good amount.
