Abnormal bleeding when you cut yourself?
When I went for my ultrascreen and they pricked my finger, I put the band-aid on and waited in the waiting room to be called in for the sono. I looked down and my hand was COVERED in blood, got it all over my jeans, etc. I thought maybe it was due to her squeezing my finger too hard, but it's never happened before.
Today I'm cleaning and I get a minor paper cut. Put a band-aid on it, go on my merry way. Well I just had to change the band-aid because it completely soaked through!
This was on two different hands, but both have been my ring fingers.
Any experience with this? Obviously it's not life threatening, but I've just never had this problem before.

Not quite sure as I've never had that issue....
Does it seem to stop relatively quickly at least ? That would be something that would concern me (the clotting factor of it), even more than the amount of blood, kwim?
I'd mention it to your OB or PCP just to be on the safe side

Thanks! I have an appointment Thursday so I'll definitely bring it up to her!
It doesn't seem to take more time to clot or slow down, it's just a lot more when I initially cut myself.

Good Luck...I'm sure it's just a weird coincidence, but always worth a mention to the Dr. when in doubt

Re: Abnormal bleeding when you cut yourself?
well you do have increased blood flow when pregnant. so maybe its related to that?? im on blood thinners for clotting issues but minor cuts still clot pretty quick, so i would def mention it to your doctor!!

Re: Abnormal bleeding when you cut yourself?
Some woman may develop ITP during their pregnancy. (I did and still have it) It means a low platelet count, which can lead to bleeding issues. Its more common than you would think. Mention your issues to your Dr. I know platelet counts are checked at certain points through the pregnancy with routine CBCs
