?? about God Parents
How many do people generally have? I have 2 best friends and would love to have both as God mothers. Is that permissible?

Re: ?? about God Parents
usually just one godfather, one godmother....
youd have to call your church to see i they do more than 1
ETA- it appears if you are anglican church you get two godparents the same sex of the baby, and one of the opposite sex

Re: ?? about God Parents
Some churches will let you have 2. My church told me only one of the same sex is allowed...but if i want the two only one is recognized, because she is the only one signing the cerificate. To me the certificate is paper, what matters is them being there for my daughter. They know the situation, my BFF will sign the paper and the other will stand next to her

Re: ?? about God Parents
In the episcopal church we were told one each - but they made an exception for us b.c they require one GP to be episcopal so I had to have my mother as one GP otherwise they wouldn't let us do it - But in our eyes, DD's godparents are her aunt and uncle.

If you 'donate' enough - the Catholic Church will 'allow' you do to do whatever you want ........

My friends was at a RC church in Ronkonkoma. I haven't researched baptism "rules and regulations yet" but i've heard that you need 1 godparent to sign the document and the other person can just be a "christian witness".
I've also heard that DH and I cannot be godparents to any child because we were not married IN a church. Does anyone know if this is true too? Why does the church make everything so dam hard???

Mine too. 2 godmothers were permitted. Depends on the church.

Re: ?? about God Parents
My sister and BIL were allowed to have 2 godmothers for each of their children instead of one of each, because neither of them have brothers.
My niece and nephew were baptized at my sister's college, which is a Catholic institution.
I think regular parishes are more strict.
