about jury duty - federal court
I am summoned for Jury Duty tomorrow (fed court) They sent me a memo saying no cell phones. Just wondering if they are really strict? They wrote to leave it at home or you have to check it at the courthouse.
Also I had rescheduled once (from OCtober) due to Location (they had sent me to the LI court house and I requested Bklyn since im in queens)
Does anyone if I go there, if i can ask to be excused again? I have a 2.5 yr old that I drop off at daycare and Im currently 7 months pregnant. Will they take that as an excuse? SHould I even bother?
TIA

Federal courts make you check your cell phones if you bring them, even attorneys and staff.
If I were you, I would just go and get it over with. I don't know that they will excuse you again AND there is no attorney that would want someone as pregnant as you on their jury. If you go, more likely than not you will be excused and then you won't have to deal with it again for a while.

they won't excuse you for having a DC, because she goes to daycare,
they may excuse you because you are pregnant (but then again depending on case they may want you there)
good luck.. and yes you need to check in your cell phone...

No experience with this but if driving, I'd leave my phone in the car. I had to do that when taking an exam once.
