Accident on the LIE East bound around exit 66?
I drove by this morning and saw that the road was down to 1 lane and that Crime Scene was there. Anyone have info on it? I checked Newsday.com and I don't see anything yet.

What time did you drive by?
I drove by there (heading West though) at around 7:45am and noticed several cop cars on the side of the road, and a black car (which maybe was an unmarked car)...it definitely looked "off" but I didn't see anything else, and I don't think they had any lanes closed down at that point.

I drove by there around 8:45 and the traffic was backed up on the EB side pretty far

Hmm...that's not good.
Yeah, traffic heading West was a zoo there (which it never is) but it was still moving, and I noticed that there were maybe around 5 Suffolk Police cars on what would be the right shoulder heading East, and the black car. That's all that was there at that time...no Crime Scene unit that I noticed.

Re: Accident on the LIE East bound around exit 66?
A Centereach man was killed in a single-car crash Monday morning on the Long Island Expressway in Yaphank, Suffolk police said.
Christopher Lugo, 21, was driving a 2007 Nissan Frontier eastbound at 6:31 a.m. when he lost control of the pickup truck, which left the road, flipped over and hit some trees, police said.
Witnesses said the driver was changing lanes east of Exit 66 when he lost control. Lugo was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at short time later, police said.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which is being investigated by Sixth Squad detectives, police said.

Wow. I am usually right around that exit, in that direction at that time, however I didn't go to work today because of preschool registration.
How scary!
