acquiring a Passport
is there a special place you go to to get a passport?
post office? social security? dmv?
also, do you have to get photos done ebfore you apply for one? or do they do it there?

Go right to a post office that does the pics on site. It was so easy, we got ours in like a month!

you can go to the post office and bring your pictures which you can take at duane reade, walgreens, etc.

I would give a bit more time than a month. From what I have read, it takes longer now b/c of the new regulations.

And not all Post Offices do passports so make sure you check before you go!11

You can do it at an office in the city for a rush. You have to pay some type of rush fee but I have an old co worker that got it the same day.

I agree. My brother applied for his regular service back in late March and got it in late July.
My brother's SILs applied for theirs expedited service in June and got them in about a month.

if you plan to travel soon expedite! i know some people have had good experiences lately but i almost had to calcel our trip to italy because our passports took over 14 weeks. we would NOT have gotten them had we not had inside help.
just a friendly warning so no one ends up as stressed as I was the week before our trip!
