Add me to the list of V-Day chocolate problems:
I can't believe it! This morning, Vin left for work at around 7am. I slept until 9:30am and have work later today... between when he left and when I got up Char got to the box of chocolate that he gave me for Valentine's Day... It was up on our coffee table and she jumped on the couch and stretched from the couch to the table to knock the box off and then opened it and ate five mini butterfingers and five small york peppermint patties... wrappings and all. I can't believe it because it is SO not like her - she is a 'picky' eater and never showed ANY interest to chocolate in the past when I would put it near her wondering if she would go for it when I'm not around.
I called the Vet -- he said monitor her but she should be OK with the amount she ate (it was small). He said she might have the runs but that's about it. I am taking her to my Mom's later to be 'watched' when I go to work.
I wanted to kill her but I also feel bad for her

ugh, that sucks...
That's EXACTLY why I told my husband NO CHOCOLATE this year. Arnold wasn't a problem this time last year but Shelby is a different story. She's CONSTANTLY going for whatever food is on the counters and forget about putting any kind of candy on our end tables in the living room!!
I swear the dog has springs in her paws!!

Re: Add me to the list of V-Day chocolate problems:
Char had the runs early on before I left for work. She would poop (diarrhea) for about 10 minutes, come inside and drink water... moan and groan and then go back out for about another 10 minutes. I had to wipe her because it was, well, messy. Poor thing! Then, I dropped her at my mom's hoping it would subside... she drank a lot of water and my mom kept taking her out to make sure she was OK. She seemed better by thea afternoon but then in the evening she threw up twice - A LOT... allllll chocolate! We figured that was the 'last' of it in her system -- I cleaned it up and she drank even more water. She seems to be much better since then, back to her 'personality' and is sleeping now. I think this is the last of it.

How is she doing today?
Well, Saturday she had the runs all day and ralphed twice - all chocolate.
Sunday (yesterday) she was basically back to herself except her poop was just a little runny.
Today, I'm happy to report, she is back to normal and her poop is back to it's normal self too Thank Goodness!
So, it took a good 2+ days to get out of her system!
I wish she could put 2 and 2 together to figure out that the CHOCOLATE made her that sick and unhappy but she can't... Even worse, now that she has had the taste of it she loves it -- because it is so sweet and even associates the "heart shaped box" with yummyness. I bought DH a box of candy too and he has it INSIDE a closed furniture door -- Well, I brought it out to show MIL what I got DH and she immediately ran up to me with tail wagging upon seeing that red, heart-shaped box!!! Just like she does when I go to her treat jar!
Needless to say we'll have to be extra careful from now on with that.
Thanks
