I think I can now add Stalker #12 to my list
I've had stalkers my whole life. The worst was an ex - I had to get the police involved, that's all I'm going to say. Well, now I think I have another, and my lord, it's my postman! 
Mr. postman is very nice. Chats with us all the time, personally hands us our mail instead of leaving it in the box outside, and even brings little treats for Sparky every week. Never thought twice about it.
Last week DH and I brought Alex to the local post office to get expedited passports because we just booked tickets to go to Israel to visit his family for January. Now, the passport application asks when you're traveling and to where, so I put on the application the exact dates and location (Israel). Mind you, as most of you know, the passport DOES NOT indicate dates or place of travel.
DH is home sick today. Mr. Postman rings the doorbell to deliver the passport. The passport is in a SEALED envelope. Mr. Postman looks at DH and says to him, "so, you're going to Israel?".
DH being the idiot, says yes, and blabbers on... and doesn't realize, holy crap, how does this guy know where we are going, until Mr. Postman leaves.
So, the question is, how the HELL does Mr. Postman know where we are going? And now we're in a serious pickle. If he knows this from my passport application, then he also probably knows our dates of travel, and now our house is quite suspcetible to a break-in, isn't it? I better call ADT tonight and get the alarm fixed so it's working by then

No possible way. We aren't THAT close with the mailman and I don't think we've ever gotten mail from Israel. We did apply for the passports at our local post office, which is the one he's affiliated with, so what I think what happened is that he saw our application somehow, noticed the address because it's one of the ones he delivers to, and when the passport came and he had to deliver it to the house, he was making small talk. But, the fact that he came across our application SOMEHOW, and noticed it enough to keep looking to discover where we are going, now that's just a tad worrisome!

I don't want to call the PO in case it was just all innocent - he is a nice guy, from what I can gather. I'm just going to make sure the Alarm is working, and that my brother house sits- as promised.

I agree, that you should call the post office and ask how this information could have been leaked and that you'd like to know if it's possible he got the info from the post office before you actually confront him. that would freak me out.

I thought about that too. now I would be totally freaked out- but I woudl ask him very casually how he knew you were going. If you don't like the answer, or he seems evasive- I would call the PO.

MAybe he knew your husband was Israeli....or maybe he could read your mind and when he asked you that question you were thinking...Good here are our passports for our trip to Israel...that could have happened

it sounds like he is being conversational and second he didnt have to be at the post office the day you got your passport maybe he is the one who put it inthe envelop to deliver it. doesnt sound like he is stalking you. a stalker is someone who follows you and harrasses you. i think he is being nice and having small talk with your husband. if he was a threat i dont think he would bring up the point that you are going away that would be too obvious.
i wouldnt worry.

I don't know. Sounds more like this man crossed a line by looking at your information. It doesn't seem to be a stalker situation in my opinion. I think maybe, as you've said you've had 12 stalkers???, you may be *so* used to getting stalked that you're making gross generalizations.
Who knows either way though. I'd still get that alarm fixed regardless - especially now that you posted this info on a message board and left yourself open to further susceptibility.

I would be concerned that he might have gotten your personal information such as SS#, employer etc that you have to put on the form that could be used for identity stealing purposes. The house can be watched by someone or the alarm can be on.

Not really, considering I don't live on LI and I've never revealed to anyone my personal information, like my last name or the town I live in. And, I was half joking, half serious re: stalking - not making a gross generalization...
