Advice/Opinions re: daycare teacher

DD has been going to the same daycare facility for 1 1/2 years and has had several different teachers during that time, all of whom I've absolutely loved. Her class recently got a new asst. teacher and when I pick her up I smell smoke on the teacher. I know shes not smoking around the children obviously, but the fact that I smell it just in passing concerns me. She is around DD all day, probably holds her, has her sit on her lap etc and I've read things lately about 3rd hand smoke. For the smell to be there, it means tobacco residue exists. Would you mention it to the director?

Yes I would. My nephew's asthma gets triggered by any type of smoke even on someone else's clothes. That would be a big no no for me.

I would absolutely say something, and I'm not a complainer. To me that is a health & safety issue and should not be ignored.

Thanks, Im not a complainer either and what the teachers do on their own time is none of my business. Shes a nice person, and DD seems to like her, but it just bothers me. But then I also feel bad, I dont know her situation. Maybe she doesnt smoke but just lives with other people who smoke which causes her hair/clothes to smell.

Yes! This happened at my daughter's daycare (not her class though) and it was brought to the director's attention. They were told they cannot smoke at lunch either.

Re: Advice/Opinions re: daycare teacher

If it really bothers you than say something. People smoking and being around kids is such a touchy subject. I wish everyone would just stop smoking so none of these issues occurred. :)
