Advice please with pic (side sleeping related)
My son seems to like this position, I just put him in his pnp an he is actually sleeping in it n(very rare)! Is this a dangerous sleeping position? I know tummy is a sids risk but what about the side.????
Don't mind the ugly mits!!

Re: Advice please with pic (side sleeping related)
we put DD on her side like that with either blankets rolled up infront/behind her or in a positioner
it's actually recommended for her bc she has reflux -- as long as hes not going to roll i think its completely fine!

That is really good ! The have sleep positioners for babies to sleep like that ! In case they spit up they will be on their side and not choke on it ! So IMO you are set

That's exactly how DD sleeps lately, always rolls right to her side. It's fine!

this is what we did - as long as we are awake - we felt safe leaving her on her side - with a blanket behind her.

Re: Advice please with pic (side sleeping related)
My DS hated sleeping on his back, and always slept on his side like that.
I'm sure according to the AAP it's "wrong", but it worked for us...I monitored him, and thankfully we never had an issue.
I won't tell you whether or not it's right..it's whatever you feel comfortable doing.

I had an infant positioner that allowed him to sleep how I put him and he could not roll on his tummy-when he was small. DS loved his side for sleeping I think it is fine but I would feel safer with a positioner-just me. Precious pictures BTW!

Re: Advice please with pic (side sleeping related)
that's how DS slept the first couple weeks - then at 3 weeks old, he consistently flipped from back to belly as soon as we put him in his crib- despite the positioner! he's been a belly sleeper since 3 weeks old.
eta: just wanted to say that you should try to get him to flip sides - one nap, do the right side, the next nap do the left side. it'll get him used to change, AND it'll prevent his head flattening on one side.

Re: Advice please with pic (side sleeping related)
when my son (who is 6.5 now) was in the hospital (well 3 of them) at birth for 6 weeks, all the nurses put him to sleep on his side like this with a rolled up blanket behind his back so he didn't roll onto his back. they said it was the best position for them back then. and they still had the back to sleep campaign going on. i think its better because if they do spit up, it will come out and they don't choke on it.
