AF related- a possible future product rave???
i was on the phone with my sister, you know, all natural home birth home school cloth diapers everything organic, etc etc....thats her....
i was complaining about AF, how heavy it is the last few months, how i go through a super plus in like an hour, lol, i know TMI, but whatever......
SHE told me that she uses this:
weird??
says she has the same heaviness that i do- and empties this THREE TIME A DAY....that is it.....
no tampon changes or anything.....
so, i thought i would share this with you all.....
im a little uneasy, but willing to try it......
what do u think of it?

Re: AF related- a possible future product rave???
yeah, i'd also be afraid of it leaking and being really uncomfortable....walking around, exercising, etc. I've heard of people using the instead cups but I hear those are hard to get in place and get out (sorry if that was TMI).

Re: AF related- a possible future product rave???
Believe it or not we (a couple of the girls in the office) were just talking about these. I personally could not see myself using them, but one of my coworkers said her girlfriend who was in the Peace Corp used it because she was located in places where she could not easily find tampons and such.
The entire conversation was actually a spin off from my find of "Moonpads" on Etsy....which are organic reuseable pads....again - not something I could see myself using.

Re: AF related- a possible future product rave???
I used the Instead cups (similar concept) when TTC and I just can't imagine how messy it would be with AF
As for the cloth pads, some people rave about them and claim they make AF lighter, less cramps etc... Not my cup of tea (not to mention DH would probably kick me out of the house ), but if it works for some people then it's great (and I'm sure they are saving a ton of $$ not buying pads/tampons every month!!).

Re: AF related- a possible future product rave???
You'll find these at camping stores --- I first saw them in Santa Monica.
Not my cup of tea, but hey kudos to whoever can do that.
And I guess if you are camping, it isn't a good idea to use tampons...I mean roughing it camping, not campsite with showers and all that type of camping.

Re: AF related- a possible future product rave???
After all these responses I'm embarrassed to admit I use something similar called Instead - its available at most drug stores now. A former boss of mine had worked for the company and was always pushing it. Eventually I tried it and really liked it!
Its not green, b/c its disposable, but I think it uses a thinner membrane. I change them once a day. It does leak on my heavier days, but I just wear a light days pad that I change if it leaks.
Its really comfortable - you have no idea its there! Here's the link if anyone is feeling curious. I think they really market it to military women too (in addition to peace corps).instead soft cups
ETA - honestly, I was just as grossed out when I first heard of it, but when I tried it- omg- its so much more comfortable than tampons or pads! I've been using them for at least 9 years now!
