Affording Baby #2
I have a 1 and 3 year old. Lost my job of 14 years 1 week after I returned from maternity leave with my 2nd as you can imagine the loss of income was mind numbing to say the least. We've used a lot of our savings, DH was working 2 jobs at one point and most recently got a new job making more $$. If you want another child sit down and discuss all your options with your DH and see what sacrifices you are willing to make. If you stay home while DH is at work can you get by on his income? Would you be willing to work part time maybe 2 nights a week and a Saturday or something? If it's something you really both want you will find a way to make it work.

I would research to see if an in-home Day care would be a cheaper solution for you. It never costs anything to research and put some feelers out there.

Our DS was a surprise. We now have 2 with a private sitter 4 days a weeks and it is running us about 2K a month. I have no idea how we are making it but somehow we are.

Yep - 2 in daycare is killer. I'm about to go back to work and thankfully I have family watching the baby until July. But come July - we will be paying $3200 a month for daycare. For a year! I don't know how we are going to do it - but we have to. My ils work full time and my parents are in Florida. My mom is coming up to watch the baby in may and June, but she's not a long term solution. A nanny would be more bc I need about 50 hours a week and a good nanny would want at least $15 an hour. Plus, I want to keep the older one in daycare for socialization

Re: Affording Baby #2
A LOT, and I mean A LOT of my boys daycare friends didn't have siblings until they were out of daycare.
Mine are 2 years apart, but, most of my older son's daycare friends are only children, or, their moms were PG with #2 as they were 'graduating' Pre K .......same thing is happening for my younger son (graduating pre K this year). They are either already the younger sibling, or their moms are PG now
Having them close together isn't the 'norm' anymore it seems -
