Someone said it best. It’s like they took the bottom brick out of a wobbling jenga tower and didn’t expect it to fall down
Who didn’t expect this outcome?? Pretty sure everyone did maybe not so quickly but what does it matter if it happens in days versus weeks versus months
Everyone is upset I have yet to hear what the solution anyone things should have happened. Or is everyone just upset that Americans weren’t brought out fast enough? If that’s case I agree there.
Ok well it’s not my job to come up with the solution. And the ones whose job it was should be fired. We have Americans there. There are people waiting for a knock at the door to be killed.
And the fact that our president did this and went in ‘vacation’ is a joke
A complete joke. How do you execute something so huge where human lives are at stake then schedule vacation for the same exact time? WTFFFF. No Psaki or Harris either.
I mean I work for corporate America and no one including myself would do something like this during a big project and we don't have human lives at risk. SMDH shame on this administraiton
Many on this board will still support them and think they are doing a great job

No one has yet to answer the several post I made on what they wanted to see. I’m not a Biden supporter but I am also not against him.
Should he not been on vacation probably a bad mood should even made sure all the Americans were out safely absolutely I get those concerns but everyone is posting makes it seem like he should’ve never even pulled out the military. So o want to know what you want them to stay there.
Because no matter what they did or how they did it the same exact thing would have happened as soon as they were gone. One thing they should’ve done differently was make sure everyone of the Americans and allies were all out safely before withdrawing

Afghanistan war: Biden says he does not regret troop withdrawal
I agree with everything you said about pulling out of there. Enough is enough, we spent enough time and resources and in the end it didn't even work. No amount of time or money would have made the outcome any different. You are right, there were definitely steps that should have been taken prior to removal of the troops.

Re: Afghanistan war: Biden says he does not regret troop withdrawal
I think mistakes were made before the pull out this week. I do believe that there may have been more advantageous ways to pull out to limit the dangers but ultimately, the dangers were never going to be eliminated...maybe just mitigated for a longer period of time. I think a major will for the Taliban was the freeing of Taliban leader Abdul Ghani Baradar in 2018 at the request of the US. He is now the de facto president of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

Afghanistan war: Biden says he does not regret troop withdrawal
We had to go to Afghanistan in 2001 to kill the terrorists responsible for 9/11. Once that was taken care of, we should have left, and continued to watch them carefully for more terrorist activity. We lost trillions of dollars and thousands of American’s lives in this effort.
There are those who benefit from long wars. Look at the bank accounts of contractors and generals… The elites get rich while the rest of us suffer.
Those responsible for this disaster should be held accountable.

like Halliburton, who made 600 million.
Made me think of this Tweet:
“The only people who think Afghanistan was a failure are people who don’t own stocks in Halliburton, Raytheon and Boeing. Afghanistan was a blistering success for them.”

I would have liked to see the Americans that are there not lied to about how much time they had to get out. They are now stuck there. No way should we have pulled the plug until every single American had a fair chance to leave.

We also left behind tons of equipment that they can now use to learn how we were circumventing things they use.
But bottom line, the military bases should not have been abandoned before every American was gone and the way they left certain equipment behind is mind boggling.

and they are not as this administration is allowing the Taliban to take care of letting the Americans leave. How people are not mad at this is beyond me.

Anyone think the US should take in those Afghans who helped US troops?

i agree with what you say but there was a peace treaty and cease fire in place that stipulated that the US would be gone by 5/1/2021 which Biden then pushed for complete withdrawal by 9/11/2021. by not withdrawing, those comprehensive cease-fire and a political road map for peace would have meant nothing. It was a position of being between a rock and a hard place. The US and other countries have tried to instill democratic policy but Afghanistan is an Islamic state steeped in Islamic law. Not all countries want a republic democracy.

The treaty had specific stipulations in place that were to be met before withdrawal. Those stipulations were not met by a longshot and Biden was not “between a rock and a hard place”. Also, there is nothing preventing a current President from retracting an agreement that was put forth by a past President. It was a shit move, period.

It all started with Bush so not sure why no one has mentioned that. They are blaming everyone but him.

I agree with you on that front.
I don't think we are privy to all the intelligence information. There are reasons that things are done that we, the American people, are not privy too. I do think there is some danger in a complete withdrawal of a peace treaty and cease fire that was agreed too. Part of the complete take over is that the Afghanistan gov't and military walked away. Again, I don't think there was ever going to be a clean withdrawal regardless of the Administration that does the withdrawal. So if Biden didn't pull out and left military there and the Taliban started killing Americans again...because you know the Taliban stopped killing Americans because of the treaty under Trump, would you have been okay with that scenario? Because that was the other side of this coin.
