After many doctor appointments, we have a plan.

We will be starting IUI this cycle and my cycle began today. I have been fine with everything, but for some reason, everything is starting to hit me today.

I had to call my insurance co. today and the woman on the phone was not listening to what I was trying to say. She kept saying IVF would not be covered if it had to do with gentics. Anyway, when I finally got off the phone, with no answers, I started to cry in the women's bathroom at work. It was just a combo of things that have me stressed out lately.

I am trying to stay positive and keeping my fingers crossed.

Were you trying to find out about coverage or get pre-approval? When I had to call the insurance company they didn't understand what I was saying either. I think they generally just work with codes there so they just don't get it.

If it's really overwhelming you see if your doctor's office can call for you and find out the coverage.

I am sorry you are feeling this way but you are definitely moving forward and in the right direction Chat Icon

This whole process IS overwhelming. Just try to deal with it one day at a time.

When I called my insurance company, the first person I spoke with was clueless. I went to my HR person and we called back together and actually got a rep who had done IVF herself, so she explained what was covered and what wasn't.

I'm glad u have a plan. Everything will come together. For what it's worth, the IUI procedure itself is pretty quick and painless (so at least ithat's not something u need to worry about).

Good luck!

They will cover the IUI, but I was asking just in case we have to take the next step and move onto IVF. They are contacting the doctor to find out what our diagnosis is offically before letting us know if we are covered for IVF.

Starting IUI is exciting and nerve raking at the same time.

Insurance companies can be terrible. My insurance has no coverage for any infertility treatments; DH and I have to do this OOP which is so not fair considering how much I pay monthly for the benefits.
Anyways, I wish you and your DH lots of luck and Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon ; you're on your way Chat Icon

I know how you feel. We are starting the hole process with a Urologist and RE. I like getting answers but feel so overwhelmed because my insurance company doesn't cover IVF and DH most likely has low sperm count and from what I have heard IVF is the only way to go. I am looking into switching insurance companies. Sending you Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I have been thinking about you so much! Sorry to hear insurance was frustrating. It is totally understandable you got upset. This is quite a rollercoaster ride that you are on. Good luck with your IUI!

Yes, I agree with this...many RE's offices have people who just handle insurance companies and can probably communicate with them better. Maybe you can call and meet with one of these people??

Anyway, stay positive....you have a plan now! Chat Icon

Re: After many doctor appointments, we have a plan.

Thanks ladies. I got everything straightened out with the insurance company. Today is CD1 so I called to make an appointment. At first the nurse would not because we did not meet with the psychologist yet. I tried to explain to her that the doctor knew and said it was ok to start. I got no where with her. So I e-mailed the doctor. About 15 minutes later he called and told me he was going to have the nurse make me the appointment.
