AGH! His leg got STUCK!!
OK I woke up this morning to my DS SCREAMING his head off!! I run in to find his leg sticking out of the side of his crib all the way to his thigh!!! It was bright red and totally stuck!! I started to panic, but then after a few minutes I got it out!! Whew-thank god- next step would have been vaseline or a hammer!!
Anyone else have this happen?
Will he do this again or will he remember the pain?
He has such chunky monkey thighs I just don't want to be thinking he's in there stuck!!!

joseph did it all the time.. never learned.. he was always trying to climb out of the crib.

Amanda actually did this once when she was a baby. I panicked too. However, she never did it again after that.

Yep....they get it in and then it gets stuck on the knee cap..
The trick is to turn the leg on it's side and slide it up to the knee and it'll come out...

Thanks ladies!! This is what hubby said-he's trying to get out of his crib!!(little escape artist)!!
Oh and the knee cap thing really scared me-he was face down-so I really had to wriggle him!!

John did this 2 weeks ago. I came up from the cellar and heard him screaming. I look in and his leg is through the rail. I had to call my Dad over who put olive oil on him to get his leg out. Then, he did it again with both legs a few days ago. Thank God DH was home.

Megan did this during the winter. I freaked out when I am usually calm.
Thank god my dh was home because for once, he was the one who was calm. I was screaming, cut the crib, cut the crib!!! With what? His magical saw in his back pocket????
It took us a while to get her out because when she stuck her leg through, she rolled over and it was twisted backwards. Believeit or not, knock on wood, she never got stuck again. She was so scared! Really scary experience.

OMG-both legs-I would have passed out!! The olive oil was a good idea!! How am I going to sleep at night??
Does anyone know -when are their legs too big to get stuck or is that awhile yet???

I took the bumpers out when he was tiny and never put them back in. I never thought of putting them back in-maybe I will try this! My luck-he will untie them and stack them up to climb out!!LOL

awww Dee I'm so sorry to hear that Matty got stuck! Abigail has gotten stuck in the crib too. I bought the breathable bumpers and she hasn't gotten stuck since.

I put the breathable bumpers in...and DS still gets his leg stuck. He rests his feet on them, and eventually they fall down a bit...enough for him to get his foot stuck.
Besides it scaring them...can they really get hurt from it?

glad he's OK thats scary to walk into to!
My nephew somehow got his head caught b/t the bars of his crib (it was an older one as she got it at a garage sale ). They had to saw the bars off the crib and ffter that they put him into a toddler bed

I would get the breathable mesh bumpers. They sell them at buy buy baby. I love mine! Also, I find that they can't get their legs thru if you always put them in a sleep sack.

yep we had it happen. it was the most TERRIBLE experience. It took forever to get her leg out!! I was panicked. This is why we still use a sleepsack everytime she is in her crib at 15 months...I can't bear to have it happen again!

bumpers or not, it can still happen. and probably will. sorry. that's why i love my video monitor. i can check on DD immediately. when it happens to my two year old now, she yells "mommy, i stuck!!" it's adorable, but a little bit frightening!
